Thanks for the link.

Not sure if it is legal though. Emulation, one I haven't seen. I thought it was a retro remake for win when I first posted.

Good find. Been playing this for the last few hours. Classic. So much easier now. Was damn hard in the old days. Still tricky though.

Rarely find time for game dev these days. I think a team is the way to go. Unfortunately, creating a like-minded DBP dev team is nigh on impossible.

I know wath you mean
i mostly work alone because iam an more on and off developer so dont think its fair for me to join an team against the other members.
as i can be away from programming for 8 months and then start again.
i recently started again on my old rts project that didt have any map editor so have bin workintg on it constantly now the last month.
but its no way as nice as yours but iam after an more comic look.
cheers
the screenie dosent show everything as i call it fluid ed as you do everything with the mouse and the space key basicly.
if you want so could i upload wath have bin done so far but its buggy and you cant save the layers with the maps yet.

Yep. I remember your RTS. Defo cannon-fodder-esque! Looked very stylised and cool. Stick at it mate and hope you can find a kinda niche in terms of playability.

I'm in the UK here btw.

Cannon Fodder is a great inspiration, I made a RTS inspired by it too, your's looks a lot more authentic though, Nice looking editor. I still have plans for my little soldiers, got this idea for a WWII RTS like Cannon Fodder and Commando's mixed together.

Unfortunately that version is for the Sega MegaDrive, I always liked the ST version best, I suggest finding it for that instead and using STeem or WinSTon, that way you can use the mouse.

Mega-Lo-Mania was great too, same sorta style but more like a simplified C&C, well worth checking out too.

Interesting, I read this as 'Cannon Fodder ready to be ruined instantly from windows' on first glance...Shame.

I never played cannon fodder, but you can find all of these old 'abandonware' games all over the place - although some have legality issues, like Monkey Island 1&2, which are still being sold.

Look behind you a threeheaded monkey!

Like the "Atari Anthology" for the PS2, they tried to revive all these old games by bundling them on a ps2 disk.
Didn't work so well...

haha. I've got as far as writing down my codes now so I can return later. Think I'm about level 15! I think when I played this when it first came out, I couldn't get further than level 5!

@Cliff - Btw, I'm having a quick bash at some code. Thought I'd make a 2D zombie apocalypse simulator! No interaction, you just watch a plague of zombies slowly infect a small poorly drawn 2D city. It's educational material.

They were making a new one for the PSP, and it looked quite awesome. Unfortunately they've taken down all information and screenshots of it, so no doubt they've dropped the project.

For those who are wondering though, the site will only be legal having the Amiga (LHA) version of Cannon Fodder on it. Also Codemasters as I've posted in the past do have a "classic" section where you can download their old games like Dizzy the Egg, which run using a DirectX-Based Emulator from the original format versions.

I ordered the plug in controller version, I wonder if that gives me full legal right to download the MD version now . I got this flip up DVD player and screen thingy at the weekend, gonna plug it into that for some ultimate mobile Cannon Fodder shenanigans.

You would think that they'd go for the DS if there was a platform that could take CF on the chest and volley it into the current market. Like holding left trigger then jab with the stylus to move, or just jab to fire with the stylus, that would be great - they could have a map on the top screen. That would be the total mobile CF solution right there, screw mobile phones!.

yeah, nice idea. sometimes the decisions made by developers baffle me.. given never been in a position where the project and platform have been my decision (or rather got to even suggest what it would be best suited for) then often had to make the best of a situation.

the DS is better suited given control methods, and potencial customer base; but oh well, as i said doesn't seem to be in production anymore or turned all secretive.

something that has me irked still is how Elite 4 has been in development for almost 15years now, and still we have nothing on it apart from there will be single and multiplayer versions. just wish they'd make something already. i mean there's nothing stopping them making an Elite 5; and hell technically they never made an Elite 3, as despite first encounters being considered Elite 3; it was more like Elite 2.5 cause it was effectively Elite 2 using modern 3D rendering methods as opposed to spline surface rendering.

Made a WiP here btw mate: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=107126&b=8

It looks rubbish, but it's cool to see the random events that unfold without any human interaction.

But back on topic, I got stuck on a canon fodder level today. Those bloody bazooka guys are really frustrating!
