a few questions about freeworld 3d terrain editor. Since i am too fat(i am not really fat) and lazy to get a checking account so i can buy this thing off the web, however, i did find an older version, freeworld 2.5 on my brother's computer.

the questin i have is how would you export a landscape as a .x mesh?

there is no option, for that export, but is there some third party conversion apps i can use?

for now ill try mikshape. ithink that will do the job.

also, what are some things that the 2.10 is better than 2.5?

it can only export in Ogre 3d , height maps(which suck) and some weird "custom export" which i do not think works.

so anyone know if there is something that can turn an ogre 3d into a .x?

theres a 3d software called deep exploration that can pretty much open any 3d format and save it as any other 3d format, and can do pretty cool stuff in between, this might be what you need.

I use freeworld3d to make a huge world, and export the heightmap and a texture. then i scale the heightmap down to 512*512. with advanced terrain, then scale the world to be huge. you can create pretty good looking terrains in this this way. I dont think heightmaps are crap at all, and considering that the map is only the size of 3 images on your hard drive, they are pretty small. you could then save the terrain as a dbo file for faster loading.
