Go with the 7300GT. The biggest difference I saw is that the 7300GT has a 400Mhz GPU, but the 6800XT only has a 325Mhz GPU.

You'll probably find the 6800 quicker, because while the 7-Series is faster than the 6-Series... a performance vs budget isn't comparible.

Failing comming to a decision on your own, check ORB on Futuremark.com. Both cards will have enough tested on there, probably with exactly your hardware to tell which will perform better.

75Mhz difference? I overclocked my GPU from 500Mhz to 575Mhz and I noticed a big difference.

The 6800 should be a faster than the 7300 but will have an older shader. I'd say a 6800 is roughly equivilent to a 7600.

Nvidia code their cards by Shader+Speed(more pipelins and faster memory) i.e 6+800 and 7+300

One thing you need to check is how much power they require. AGP 3D cards usualy use a molex connector to draw more power direct from the PSU because the motherboard cannot supply enough. If you're unluck you could find yourself having to buy a stronger PSU as well!

My psu should be sufficient, It's rather new and I think it was a 450 watt..

I'm leaning towards the 7300.. but I was unable to view benchmarks at futuremark, cuz it looks like I'd have to download the software, and I'm not at home

It's all good though, I've got a couple weeks to think it over till I get my paycheck^.^

I know, all the good cards are pci-e.. I'm not quite ready to buy a new mobo/processor/ram yet tho

Probably when dx10 starts becoming a requirement for games, is when I'll upgrade
