Hey guys, after raking up enough money, heres what my new PC setup will look like. I have already checked everything (I think) but if ANYONE can find any problems with this setup, I'll sell them my soul (seriously though I'll be in debt to you).

-XFX Geforce 8800 GTS XXX ($439)

-Ultra 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (2 X 1024) ($200)

-Asus P4GD1 Motherboard (Already Have)

-Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT (Already Have)

-Xion 500 watt PSU PCI-E ready ($67)

-Power Up Black 2559 ATX Mid-Tower case ($67)

-Socket 478 CPU fan ($24)

-VGA to DVI video adapter (for moniter) ($12)

As you can see, I already have my Motherboard and CPU, I'm just buying the rest to complete the computer. I might upgrade to a dual-core later, but for now, all I have is socket 478

I've already done the dirty work, so I'm not asking anybody to do anything for me, but I want to check with some of the geeks on the forum to make sure it checks out. Oh, and is the XXX version of the XFX GTS any different from the normal one? (no crude comments please) I went for it because it comes with Ghost Recon 3.

As I said before, I'll be very thankful to anyone who finds any problems with my setup before I buy it. I've checked, but sometimes thats not enough.

I don't know about anyone else, but those DVI/VGA adapters never worked for me......

they work fine here too, that said.. doesn't the 8-Series come with one already?

as for the rest, personally i'd save my money on the ram.
2GB @ DDR-400MHz is more space but slower than 512GB @ DDR-800MHz, especially if with the $100 you save (assuming you go for Hyper-X or Crucial) that you then buy a decent SATA2 HDD (i.e. WD or Hitachi)

that said for that you'd really need a mobo upgrade, and that 8800 GTS isn't worth $450+ you'd be better off getting a HD 2900 XT for $320 then getting a new mobo that can run dual-core/p4 so you can then get the ram you need. also beats getting a new fan, cases you only upgrade if you *have* to. no point throwing good money into something that honestly hasn't changed design in over a decade. only good the new cases are for, are heating solutions but that said $100 gets you a decent water cooling that covers GPU, Chipset and CPU .. silent, and cooler. can't really beat it.

if your planning on gaming, get a better processor. And I believe the gpu that you are buying comes with the adapter you want to buy.

Oh really? thats good I don't have to buy it then. And I'm buying the case because My old PC only has a micro-ATX case, so I think I'll just by a flashy case with good cooling that'll last me a while.

Thanks for the RAM notice though, I'm ordering this off of TigerDirect so I can look for something else. The reason the 8800 GTS is 39$ more expensive is because it comes with Ghost Recon 3.
Believe me, I know what that card is worth. I want it for DX10 (which anyone who uses FPSCreator will know why)

Well, Tigerdirect.ca doesn't have any dual channel ddr ram that's above 600MHz, and it costs alot. I think I'll stick with 400MHz for now, is PNY a good brand for RAM?

What's wrong with an MATX case? I have a customised 360 case for my PC; having something flashy is just pointless.

Dude, the Asus P4GD1 is an ATX motherboard, that means that it won't fit into in mATX case, it's too long. Other than that I didn't know you could use a 360 for a PC case, but I don't even have one so whatever.
