ROFL, religious politics strike back.
The church will never win, though.

They haven't really conveyed the cathedral as a peaceful place of worship have they I can understand from the churches point of view why they dislike the cathedral section of the game (Sony sort of ruined the holy place of worship image of the cathedral with that pointless alien violence) but I don't care what happens because I don't have a PS3

Someone commented that to have found that cathedral they would have had to play all the way to level 10..... or something... I've not played it..... but it's a good point.

I am christian.... but this is stupid.

They probably won't win, it isn't even associating the cathedral with violence, it's a historical building included to add the environmental realism - I don't see how they could sue, they can't 'own' the building so they won't be able to try and use that- as it probably could cause issues by saying 'the church is our properly'. Many games use Churches and cathedrals in their environments, I always thought they carried connotations of sanctuary and not violence when playing a game...Hmmm...sounds like an excuse to try to prevent violent games, judging from them actually calling the game 'sick'.

They didn't play through level 10, somebody else did and told them about it.

Quote: "Marshall said that he had not played the game himself. Rather a press-cutting agency had alerted the Church after picking up a reference to the cathedral in a game review on a website."

I agree. It doesn't matter what your religion is, things like this are so stupid. The people here have to be just finding reasons to complain or make money.

The phrase "Politically stupid" fits this perfectly.
They seem to forget that it is just a game. This is no documentary, if it were, I could see the case go through, this is a game they are talking about.

This is going to get locked because it looks to me like it falls under the no religion category, However..

I've seen this on CGTalk, its not the strongest case ever but i can see where they [the church] are coming from

It's stupid, and as usual, all religion, something intended to unite humanity, does is cause rows.

and people wonder why the church is loosing followers, when they pull of crap like this. i'm not condoning the whole desicration aspect, but still they're pushing things that really don't matter.

christianity is about love for ones fellow man (not in the gay way ), and all they seem to keep doing is attacking things they don't agree with.

yes, something like this is a desicration, but we're only suppose to defend ourselves not proclaim we are doing gods will. if god wants to sort out someone who has caused desicration he will; as long as actions don't hurt anyone then it's his place to sort it out.. if he deems it right to do so, that person will get their retribution.

i mean if you're looking at it from a christian pov. dumbass cathloics.

I have a feeling this will now get locked very quickly, due to your inability to control yourself.

Jeremy Vine was talking about this on Radio 2 the other day.

The general consensus of the callers seemed to be that the church setting was conveyed as a symbol of strength, hope and defiance of mankind and not in the negative way that the spokesman infers.

Its all daft anyway. Bricks and mortar are not worth getting worked up about. And im sure if there was a God he would have found that level FAR too easy.

why cause i feel quite strongly about this sort of thing?
this is a religious debate, and should've been locked right away. i'm just going to have my say before that happens.

That, I believe, is what's known as the straw that broke the camel's back.

..and I think Indi would have noob slapped you all the way home again for that one But as it's confined to the topic of the thread, it would be fruitless.
