Thanks, Funny but your post is here, and the # of posts showed 2, but the thread didn't bump and it still had my name as the last poster.

Is there some conspiracy against Raven?

He's noob slapped, and posts made while on post approval don't bump the thread. They didn't even used to show until someone else made a post.

yeah under newbie slap thanks to our friend FredP cause of an "anti-catholic" comment a few days back.

I'll use my old account when I can remember the log-in and password, cause it's really buggered me up helping some people on other forums.

Think the whole thing is silly, given if I'd called another user a moron rather than the catholic church then I'd never have been slapped; even still talked to two of the other moderators who said they thought about slapping me for it, but decided to let it slide. Still confused to why FredP is moderating outside of FPSCreator though, probably finally saw his change to hit me. Know he's never liked me much.

Look at my joined date. Rich didn't copy the joined dates from the old forum so we all ended up with the date the new forum started. My original one should be some time mid-2000 (like Raven I found the site much earlier but didn't actually sign up until I thought of something to ask). I can't remember if he created our accounts automatically with the current date or we had to create our accounts again and I did it on the same day. Either way that is the day the new forums were opened to the masses.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Sorry Raven, dupe accounts aren't allowed.
Both are slapped now... Just wait it out, it'll be over soon.

Yeah, I've heard that before. Last time I was slapped it was for a month by RobK; and I had to get Rich to take it off.

This is all totally pathetic.

In the context of the reason for being slapped, not at all. Better to slap one person for unacceptable comments than offend a dozen others.
The original comment was pathetic, especially when you went on to say that you took advantage of the thread to say what you did before it got locked.

Sry Raven, I honestly didn't know. If I had any idea I wouldn't have brought it up.

Please don't let my inquiry get you further in the hole. I didn't think it was from a noob slap because...

I thought that under those circumstances posts have to be approved before they show. And I thought once they were approved that it actually behaved like a regular post (ie bumping the thread, showing you UserName as a reply). I guess that's not the way it works.

So just wait it out, and I'll see you on the Flip-Side! BTW If your ever up for some Real-Time chat during your slap, hit me up on MSN. I'll have to see if your account has an MSN link under it.
Peace Bro!!

@Raven - Please stop crying over spilled milk. You know that what you said was against the AUP, no use moaning about it. The fact that two other mods told you they were going to slap you but let it slide, is proof that you danced on the edge with your comments. It was completely understandable to get slapped. Period.

alright well about the fact that i break or boarder on the AUP on a daily basis. but the second i make a "religious" comment, i'm slapped by a moderator who frankly is here to maintain order in the FPSCreator forum.

now also add to the fact that the newbie slap system is there to prevent people from doing things against the aup, right?
right now i'm suppose to be learning my lesson .. but realistically what are you willing to bet that i won't do it again?

i'd say that there's a damn good chance if someone posts something similar again, i'll probably make some comments along the same lines. not even going to pretend that i won't, so slapping me for however irritatingly long i've been slapped for isn't going to do any good except give all of the moderators more work trying to keep up with the amount i post around here.

so who exactly is the one really getting the brunt of this? me? not really i just find it irritating; it's you guys who now HAVE to read through my posts before you can press "accept" or whatever it is.

the system on the whole, for a user like myself is pointless. even a ban wouldn't make me go "oh maybe what I said was wrong" because I honestly don't believe what I said was wrong in any way.

sure it was against the aup, but honestly if this is going to be enforced then it should be enforced more often for things that also break the aup, not on just judgement calls of if it broke the aup enough. more to the point if religious talk is so damn bad, then just tell Rich to add all of the religious words; like religion types to the banned word list. that would prevent any comments from anyone; rather than having to give you guys the choice of slaps or bans.

The closest I can get for DBP's birthday is patch one was dated September 12, 2002.

And Dec 18, 1999 for ver 1.0.0.0 of the DBC final build CD.

Thanks Lost in Thought!!! I'll put those in my calendar as the Birthdates of DBC and DBP. Probably the best dates we'll get, unless Rich or Lee remark otherwise.

I'm going to make a Pyramid cake for Sept 12.

I'd say that the chance of you getting slapped (and the length of time of being slapped) for making such comments will only increase then.

Quote: "the system on the whole, for a user like myself is pointless."

You are not special. I've been here as long as you have. If I made comments like that, I'd expect to be slapped too. I have some very strong beliefs about certain things. This isn't the place to express those things though.

Quote: "even a ban wouldn't make me go "oh maybe what I said was wrong" because I honestly don't believe what I said was wrong in any way."

It doesn't matter what your opinion is on the matter. A slap isn't intended to make you change your beliefs or opinions. The point of it being in the AUP is because your opionion on the subject (and anyone else's) does not matter.

I think the current group of moderators do a good job. They have every right to make decisions based on the context that things are used in. It isn't simply black and white.

Take your lumps and move on. If you don't like the rules of this forum, then don't use it.

Hey WOLF how about you goto the "Church Sueing Sony" thread, and check out why I've been slapped.

And it's nice saying it could be for longer next time, considering I have no idea how long this one is gonna last. So far it's been a week, and this is getting ridiculous having to sometimes wait almost a day for some of my posts to be moderated.

How the hell am I suppose to give and decent responses this way?
If I'm gonna be slapped, then FredP can sodding be on 24/7 keeping up with my post count; especially after today editing up someone else' post rather than slapping them for breaking the AUP.

So maybe you are "learning your lesson" then as you put it.
For the record, all the mods were in agreement. I didn't impose the noob slap because we have had our own conflicts in the past and it might have been seen as abusing any authority. But it was a unanimous decision.
At the end of the day, the more established members should know damn well what's right and wrong, and know not to abuse the AUP.

i'm with raven on this one

i am also wondering why he does so, he noob slapped me once for a post i made outside of the fpsc forums, and i seem to recall that richard said that the fpsc mod's were supposed to moderate the fpsc forums, not the other ones..

YES!! while some people get this "[mod edit]" thingy, others get either banned or noob slapped for saying something as little as A**holes (not even used in an offencive way)..

if i get banned or noob slapped for this it just proves my point..

If anyone has a real issue, then mail me or another mod, and we'll get back to you having discussed it between all mods. Otherwise, stick to the AUP, and don't worry about slaps / bans / decisions that aren't directed towards yourself. The only person you need be concerned with is you. If anything offends, you have the report abuse button at your disposal.

i agree with raven.. what difference does it make, a week, or a month... the only difference is increased unhappyness with forum members..

the punishment does not fit the crime..

Agreed, I was banned on the FPSC forum for saying B**ch as in, "Sometime these things can be a ____ to fix".

Other more respected "FPSC memembers" will get mod edits. I've learned to stay away from that place with its terrible moderators. I am siding with Raven 100%, it was annoying being banned for that, for almost 1 month. I seriously considered leaving all together. Cursing in that manner, with such a light word, is plain stupid for a 2 week or so ban. I toggle all the FPSC mods posts after that incident.

Time is ticking away.

Zenassem, feel free to start this thread again, it's been well and truly hijacked. It's already been said - anyone with a real issue can email a mod and we'll discuss it.
