Hello,

I just got a Dell GX270 with the following: (generated by Sandra)

I would like to overclock my system and do not have experience in overclocking, so I would like help with my system.

I have read up on guides, so I have a good idea on what I am getting into, and have extra fans and an extra bridge heatsink.

I do not know how much wattage I am getting from the PS, but I imagine it is not very much, so I may use another PS and turn on two power supplies at the same time to make up for SOME lost volts/amps/watts while overclocking. I am only trying to clock my computer .3 more GHz, because the system inly runs at 2.79, even though the CPU is 2.8 classed. My mobo supports higher CPU speeds.

I think I covered everything....

Thank you in advance!

P.S.
I wanted to use an old 700 (Celeron) system (to learn on), but I could not figure out how to unlock the BIOS --- If you know how to do this, I will give you the tech info for that system (yes I tried jumpers!-the only one on there is for the CMOS/BIOS, and those settings clear the CMOS)

you will only be able to clock the processor at multiples that your RAM supports.

for example i used to have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.2GHz) processor with DDR333MHz Ram, I could never get it to even reach the 200MHz that both motherboard and processor could; let alone overclock because the Ram's max multiple was 180MHz.

so it clocked in at 1.8GHz (2600+) instead.
with your setup, you could push your FSB up to 166MHz; this would mean your processor could potencially hit 3.4GHz max. although your fan & heatsink solution would never cope with a P4 doing that.

probably best to try to tap it out at 3.0GHz (150MHz 21x)

OK, now how would I go about doing this - I want a step by step for my computer, because if I screw up this computer, I am not getting another one, for a long time!

And, yes I may overclock my GC, because as good as it is, I could and should be better! - I may look in to this!
