Is FPSCX10 using the same biped as X9? Or will it be replaced with a new one.

Just watched Jurrasic Park on telly, and come to think of it, the patterns on the red and green one kind of reminds me of a dinosaur. I knew there was something about it that seemed familiarish.

nope. Ive checked through the animations, and gotten rid of the water, just an illusion.

yeah, the striped concept is mostly taken from raptors (there are some green ones with red stripes) but also from poisonous tropical creatures, spiders, frogs and so forth, really its just a tropical jungle type skin camo

another, more 'contaminated' for those biological warfare type games, the yellow gives the sense of hazardous/infectious stuff

Also very nice!

Will you be making more variations of the Juggernaut?

Or was the blue the last one?

Unfourtunatly, X10 will be lacking in important features that most x9 games had when x9 came out.

Yeah... but that sucked anyway. If they had a server hosting thing up then maybe it might be easier to do MP stuff with X9. I still want to buy a new CPU though. Everyone would go crazy over here thinking I made a NEXT GEN game on my own. MP or no MP.

Wow, I'm unaware of what it actually lacks. Is it the save feature thats missing or something? And this game looks very nice even though there are no real maps built yet. I'd buy it mainly because the water and ragdoll physics. It could better yet rival Half-Life. Seeing you can pick crap up, blow people off walls and they go jellyfied on you, and the lighting is simply outstanding...

If you bought this and new how to make a good story up and map like a pro then I don't see how a lot of us could go big time commercial with the games we make!

Once again, nice work Jon! I'm a big fan.

It may say I'm new but I've been on this forum under an old account since 2006. Nice, nice stuff right here! And anyone can qoute me on that.

Well, vehicles for one. "True" dual-weild, lights that can be attatched to an animated object....etc. but for the price, I would definatly choose this engine over the doom engine, unreal engine, or Cryengine. (plus like 10,000 others)

Variables, real time lighting, vehicles, and headshots, to name a few.

Oh, well basiclly every flaw in X9. Hmmm.... well I have plans to get a new computer anyway and will most likely buy X10. I will port Echolabs if it is a success and then maybe sell. The water is perfect.
The lighting is pure awsome. Better than most games. I think it even rivals Gears of War's lighting.

I have one question for Jon. What about the lights on the character?
I know you cant make mobile lights but if a character with "lights" on walked into the dark and you couldn't see them anymore and they're right beside you, that would totally kill it. I don't suppose you could have them maintain that light effect on their suits while their in pitch darkness huh?

Just a thought.

I'm not any kind of expert on this field, but even the old DX9 version of FPSC allowed that lit-up effect that made the lights etc look like as if they'd actually emit light and glow in the dark. Adding similiar effect to model/textures should make it look as if the lights still work.

No, it's an illumination map.

..which is integrated into the specular map. (for x10 that is, makes sense instead of wasting a whole new map, seeing as an illumination map is grayscale and the alpha channel of a specular map isn't doing anything)

but yeah, if you 'walk into darkness' the lights will still show up thanks to the illumination data in the specular map alpha channel, staying bright, bloom will render over these areas and you still get a glow

Sweet. Thanks for the reply. I would make a way freaking scary game if I bought this involving your characters. ( If included, thought it said somewhere on here it would be as well ). I would be like Doom 3, Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R, and Gears of War all thrown together. I'd scratch a lot off my plot for my game to make a bad-ace game that could involve all those game elements!

So I guess you could use illumination maps to fake a moving light, though you would probably want the room to not be completely black in the first place so it appears like the lights are doing something, but do illumination maps emit light onto other things?. Also, how well do the specular/illumination maps show up in the water?

Your about to get pwned.

Not unless you wanted to be scared crapless by a horrifying alien shreek and a blur of lights in front of you.

Also, what models that you have shown us will be avaliable for X10 if it is included?

or in a more direct way...

Which "soilders" and "aliens" will be included?

No. To put it simply, they only make the specific parts of the model appear more or less "lit up" no matter how dark/bright the area is. Thus they should also work underwater.

that is, the juggernaut character + variations and alien (raknos ) character + variations. (just in case anyone thought that weird uber low-poly goblin was going in )
