I have a little extra cash this month so I was wondering which should I buy? PS3 or X360?

I've heard of a lot of hardware problems with 360's which has put me off a little. The biggest 360 draw factor for me atm are the games and the lower cost. Although the PS3 has more potential IMO and a larger HDD which could come in handy. It also comes with a HDMI port built in as aposed to the 360...

Decisions decisions..

i'd recommend the 360, then again i'm a tad bias.
i mean the hardware issues were only really there early on, all modern consoles have teething issues.. there are quite a few with the PS3 hardware atm too

there's much more available for the 360, plus it has many very established systems in-place right now.

you have a large game library, with xbox back-compatibility.
xbox live (marketplace, arcade and gaming.. soon Messenger & .TV)
it's fairly portable; as you don't have to reset it to SD-RF each time you want it on another TV.
you can flip between AV modes without rebooting the console.
HD Sound works, period. try setting it up on the PS3 is difficult to say the least.
arcade has a new title each wednesday
most games are being released on it either multi-platform or as exclusive content .. PS3 only has a few guarenteed exclusive.
the back-compatibility with the PS3 is "temporarily" disabled for UK machines right now. no clue why
DVDs are crystal clear even in SD modes, using Avivo. PS3 everything looks fairly poor in SD modes; it's like playing a full-screen windowed mode DBP app.
xbox dashboard is easier to navigate than XMB, the XMB isn't really good for complex systems which the PS3 impliments.
rumble on controllers, which the charge lasts for more than a few hours
price of additional hardware is much cheaper.

i dunno, the PS3 is alright; but certainly not enough to warrent the £600 price-tag.

I really don't know much since I don't own any consoles, but what about the xbox 360 elite? It's got a 120GB hard drive and HDMI. Although it also is a tad more expensive

It's not out in the UK until November, and at that price point I would probably end up buying a PS3 instead!

If you've got a little money left, I'd recommend neither one - wait until they cost less or you got a little more money left.

The 360, it's got the best online, and so the most diverse gameplay.

I've been playing GRAW recently, co-op territory matches (unlimited spawning, hundreds of enemies attacking you), it's damn good fun when you get about a dozen players battling swarms of enemies. I'm getting 140 kills in 15 minutes sometimes. The 360 is the only place to find such carnage, I get bored of single player games these days so the 360's line up is ideal for me, lots of violence and people to share it with.

Already got a Wii!

I want one of the other consoles to tide me over until the major Wii releases come to Europe.

I think the PS3 has the most potential but I get the feeling that Sony is going to do a Sega, so I'm steering away from PS3 atm. Plus I can use X360 as a Windows MC extender...

Sorry Raven but I've seen you say that in a couple of threads and it's just not true. Emulation in the European consoles is done in software and not hardware like in the other models, but it is not disabled. It's not perfect but is getting updates and I've used it for a bunch of PS2 games and apart from one FMV sequence they've worked no problems at all.

Anyway Joshi, hope you're well mate

I have the Wii, 360 and PS3 and, FWIW, I'm actually going to agree with Raven (aside from the above ) I use the Wii and PS3 about the same amount but the 360 is constantly in use and, if you're looking at the here and now, is definitely the machine to go for.

The Wii and PS3 will undoubtedly catch up but right now they are all about potential whereas the 360 is already a fantastic piece of kit with a great software catalogue.

Hey Fog, haven't seen you around for a while. Hows things?

Sounds like 360 gets the vote then! Does anyone know if it looks aright on a standard def TV?

Any Wii owners, remember to link your Nintendo account with your Wii as you'll be able to convert Nintendo Stars to Wii Points soon!

So was my faith in the DS well founded Fog, eh? I guess that it's no mean feat that it manages to outsell the PS3 and X360 combined.

Not bad matey I only drop in here once in a while to see which oldies are still around and what everyone else has been working on.....not a lot if the Program Announcement board is anything to go by

HD obviously looks better but SD still looks ace. Only small text in a couple of games causes issues but hardly worth worrying about.

Sales figures are superb as expected, although I have to say I'm still underwhelmed by the vast majority of DS software. (and PSP to even up the argument )

You should pop across the Binary Zoo forums again when you're not busy with Coders Turf, and we can have a Ninty/Sony/Microsoft argument, *cough* I mean discussion, like the good old days or RGT/LLRGT/MN

The DS scene has been a bit dry - that was before Sega Darts!

It's the most addictive game I've played in months, maybe on the DS itself - I don't really like darts but it's just such a great adaptation, the control method is genius.

But there's also Zelda, Sim City 2000, and Jam Sessions to look forward to this year.

As much as i hate MS I'd go for the 360, they got most of the early glitches fixed now and its realy nice in HD.

The Wii is for children and old people who don't know one end of a good console from the other. It realy is OLD technology tarted up!

The PS3 is too expensive and will probably have early adopter glitched too and if Sony go down the pan you will be left with a BetaMax

Might just take you up on that some time. I'm under the name of `SaikoJosh` on Binary Zoo.

Nah, the Wii is for all casual gamers - the sort of people who play puzzle games like Bejeweled. It's doing for consoles what the DS did for handheld's, or is the DS in the same boat in your eyes?
Games are for everyone, if the Wii gets grannies and girlfriends playing videogames then more power to nintendo.

Comparing the Wii to the 360/ps3 is like comparing the DS to the PSP - one of them is far more powerful, but that has absolutely nothing to do with it's success or how people will take to it. The DS is hardly ever off in my house, the PSP, heck where is that PSP, I can never find it on the bi-yearly occasion that I might want to think about maybe playing it!.

The Wii is not for hardcore gamers, if you thought it was then you must have watched a whole different bunch of adverts! - it's squarely aimed at casual gamers, and it's doing a great job of staying on target. That's why it'll continue to kick the PS3's ass.
