Newcomers DBPro Corner / Array Manipulation problems

I coded a user defined array for a skill system. The problem is I cant edit the values in the array within the do..loop. It works if I add in
"If spacekey() then Skills(1).level=Skills(1).level+1"
but then it increments so fast it makes white squares
(numbers blurring). Otherwise the value wont change at all. Source provided below. Thanks.
