i proly didnt explain well enough. instead of having to animate a bunch of different objects, you can use just one mesh.

Hmmm I thought 3ds did not hold any skeletal or animation data?

Especially with anim8or. I've been using anim8or for 8 years and know that exporting animations is nearly impossible. Depending on what format you export the mesh as, it will retain it's skeleton. There is a special export tool within the figure settings, but is not compatible with FPSC. FPS Creator require the Body Shop software, Milkshape, or 3DS MAX. Those are the top 3.

@da power pwnerer

Hello,

Are you sure that the scene export will export the animation keys into a 3ds file? I've tried with a skeleton, without it, with a sqeunce, with just scene articulated structure animation (no bone skinning anim) and I've never gotten the 3ds format to contain the animation information. Exactly what steps did you take, please. And could you attach an examplke an8 file and the exported 3ds file that is animated?

The reason I'm curious is because I've just about completed an an8 to directx conversion program that includes animation and I might kick myself if there was another way.

Enjoy your day.

are you serious, u just made an x exporter? could you post it because it would probably be a lot easier than the way to export 3ds

thanks in advance

Anim8or 3ds files do not contain any animation data however saved. The only format in anim8or that supports animation is the native format.

It's actually a converter not an exporter and it's not quite finished yet and I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it. But keep your eyes open, most likely I'd end up posting it on the DBC board.

@fik
Thanks, that's been my experience, too.

Enjoy your day.
