How often does this usually happen to you guys? I've been having an off week, it's happened an average of like two or three times a day. Yesterday I had a terrible incident where Blender, Metasequoia, and the GIMP all froze at the exact same time. Argh...

try:
Airing out the pc fans(if the fans are clotted get a felt and run the tip through the clotted areas)
Underclock pc(if you need to this get yourself a new motherboard, its clearly failing if you need to do this.
If you are getting a sparky sound replace power cable

Do it in that order if you get crashes

Defrag if its just slow downs

I don't know if it's a problem with my hardware since it usually only happens with one program at a time. I almost never get a total computer freezup, only if I've been using it waaaay too much.

Save regularly. I use Hexagon 2 and I have found it's bug cause lots of unfixable errors - which can be annoying - plus check out why it's crashing - is your PC up to spec for the tasks you are doing?
