Quote: "Game bought Electronics Boutique a while back too (or they owned EB, and then changed all the stores). I have a town near me which used to have gamestation, EB, and Game, then EB changed to Game (two game stores within 50m of each other lol), and now the gamestation is changing to Game too...."
Everyone thinks this! It was actually EB that bought out Game, but they kept the name Game, because let's be honest, it is somewhat clearer than Electronics Boutique.
The same thing happened near me, there was an EB 30m from a Game, they kept both for a bit then closed one of them down.
In Cambridge there's a Gamestation five metres from a Game, there's no way they'll keep both shops open...
Surely this counts as a monopoly?? I thought the definition was 25% of the market, maybe I made that up. As far as I know they can't count online retailers as competition. In terms of high street shops, Game and Gamestation must be 80%? I mean, you'll get a few games in Smiths and HMV etc. but there are no other dedicated ones.
