hey im having problems with my imac g3. i got it off a mate so it dusnt have its original disks and the data and os on the hard drive is corrupt. i dont want to fork out for the original disks so i was wondering if there was a linux for this machene that would allow me to format the hard disk and install the linux. other ones i have tried dont install without the original mac os installed and dont allow me to sort out the harddisk.

Dam no loo roll left!

I definitely recommend ubuntu. It's the easiest linux installation I've ever been through. Just make sure you download the correct distribution for your machine.

I have a iMac so I know what your talking about especially since I went throught a similar thing although, I would seriously recommend getting the original disks evn if you want to have linux because once you get the Mac OS to work its very easy to duel boot.
