My old landlady (when I first got a job) on the other hand made a cracking Sunday beef roast that was honestly better even than a carvery place. Best ever. Brilliant. Thought I was in roasty heaven. Unfortunately after 4 years of having it *every* single Sunday made me hate beef roast dinners.... doh... Now I have my taste for beef roast dinners back it doesn't matter as she is dead. Plus my other great roast link is my great aunt who does amazing things. Unfortunately she is 92 now and would probably cook a book or something instead... Damn it. Only hope is my Mum... Oh God, I just remembered her weak gravy.... no!!!....

Cheers"

Maybe you should learn to cook yourself , just an idea...

You haven't seen my family... My mum cooks the worst food ever with pretty much only chicken on the menu when it comes to meat, no spices, no salt, nothing for flavour basically, and gravy that makes water look thick. My sister is a total nut when it comes to food. One year we had Xmas dinner with her eating nothing but frozen jelly (special diet thing). The next year she ate nothing but eggs. And my dad is a manic depressive. I thank God I left home over a decade ago Think the last time we all sat down for a meal that wasn't Xmas or a birthday was probably about 1985...

Yeah... it seems employers expect you to have a bunch of experience but not a one of them has any clue where you should get it.

Funny, I had quite a large amount of interviews just after graduating, with little to no prior dev experience. It's not set in stone that you need experience for all computer jobs, is it? That would be pretty silly.

It just seems that way, Jeku. You either screw up when they phone to ask you 'What is good customer service' etc, or they lose your information and don't call or mail you back.

Some places will hire you, with no experience, but mainly new companies, or companies that know, you know your stuff.

Anyway, I finished my course today, so I have the whole summer to waste, till September, when I start an 18 week course for networking and system support.

I know my stuff, I just don't know the proper names to use, which makes me sound a bit silly when I try to explain things to techies

I know what you can do!

Take a computer apart in a few seconds and put it back (like they do with pistols) to impress the employers!

Yeah, but there is getting in the same room that is a problem. It's highly likely you get filtered out before even getting an interview even.

My best advice is go to as many interviews as possible. Not everyone wants experience (my company at the time preferred new grads with no experience so that they could mould them without any resistance. Now they are more like Nazis, but hey...). More interviews you do though the more you are likely to get a good one.

Cheers
