Ok kay, Im a 110% Newbie. And I would like your advice on what I should buy. (I dont even know if I should post this question here but I am a newbie ) Here is some info on me. I do not know any code lang(I want to try some coding some time but I would totatly not know what to do), I would realy like to learn how to make games. And I dont want to spend more than $120 dollars.

So if you could please point out some good DarkBasic Programs and other programs that I should get Id be very thankful.

Rats I have to get off the computer...

Thanks,
¬Lonnie

OK, I would go to www.realgametools.net/ and buy Dark Basic Professional from that site, which is tax/shipping free and somes with Character FX, an animation program. With your extra 20 dollars I would buy Milkshape 3D a brilliant modelling program available from http://www.milkshape3d.com which is a mere 20 dollars to register.

Work on from there! Now you can program, model and animate. Now all you need is something to make textures (heck, mspaint will do for now) and you have everything you need!

Thanks, But I dont think that I realy will need a 3D Graphic program.(My Aunt is going to give me one, a very good one at that)

And you say I should get Dark Basic Professional, Charecter FX and Milkshape 3D(but I dont need Milkshape cause Im getting a realy good 3D animtion Program). Thanks Alot!

Also what is the Differnce between Dark Basic 1.13 and Dark Basic Profesional? I know that there must be some major Differnces.

And will I beable to do anything with Dark Basic Proffesional even though I dont have any experience with codes?

Thanks you so much,

¬Lonnie

Darkbasic Classic and DarkBasic Professional are 2 different languages, Classic is very basic, with limited commands, only 255 charchters per line (which is a pain for the 20 line challenge), and when you get too high 3d (and some 2d) graphics it can be very slow. Pro is pretty much a whole diferent language, many different commands, much faster play, capability for much better graphics, and its only 100$. If your gonna spend money on anything get DarkBasic Professional w/ Character Fx, then buy Milkshape 3d to make models (i did that and i don't even make models ). Finally when you get some more cash, get DarkMatter which has models and other usuful stuff.

Programming languages are never just easy, however DarkBASIC Professional is the easiest language I've used/seen to create games and I've programmed in C, C++, Python, Java, and Pseudo Script code for a game engine called Sphere (Emu for UO).

Trust me, if you're starting out in programming, and want to create games, DBP (DarkBASIC Professional) is the way to go.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

Thank you ever so much. I was thinking of just buying Dark Basic and 3D Game Maker, but now Im going to get Dark Basic Pro, with the Charecter FX. And I will get some 3D Animation Program some time from a relative.

Alright thank you for helping me (a newbie so new that he has not even tried the Product that he is a newbie with. Now that is a true Newbie, lol).

Thank you,

if you are totally new, don't need to do 3D and have win98SE/98/95, i'd try DIV. you can get it for about £10 and it is relly easy! it was the first language i coded in, and ive found everything else relly easy to pick up on since that

make sure you check compatability though, it is DOS so doesn't work with xp and some others

If you're going to buy DBPro, just DON'T buy it from Real Game Tools!! I ordered mine from them on May 10th and still haven't received it!! I've emailed them three times (today's included) asking about my order status and they never replied. I emailed the sales at DBS asking them if they could help, but they never replied. I emailed Rich about it a couple of days ago, and he didn't replied. It has been my worst online purchasing experience!!

I'm afraid RGT has nothing to do with Rich, and that's probably why he didn't reply. That or you sent the email at a weekend / bank holiday.

I got both DB and DBPro from amazon.co.uk, which was quite cheap (£20 and £50), and delivery was up to their usual standards.

For whatever reason, I should at least get a reply by now, which I didn't. And since Rich is the adminstrator, he should at least have the courtesy to reply, or direct me to someone who can help. To say Rich has nothing to do with RGT is B.S. because Rich works for DBS, and RGT is a designated seller of the software created by DBS. So, Rich has the obligation to reply, and needless to say RGT.

Depends entirely what you want to do with DarkBASIC Pro, i.e. your intentions?

Like for modelling, if you've never modelled before then a lot of people would recommend MilkShape as it is supposed to be easy to learn and a good buy at $20.00 (I think it's that price anyways).

I bought DBC, and it's great, but I'm currently creating a FPS and am now wondering why I didn't buy DBP!!!
Anyways, I'd say get DBP for 3D (which everyone will get 2 eventually)

Get DBP over DBC even if you want to create 2D games. DBP handles sprites faster.
