Do you have any other work to show off? So we know you're actually going to do it rather than take our clips and run?

Have you tried the search button, yet? (obviously not, cos if you had, you would have found all the threads about skaters).

Have you tried YouTube?

Are you serious?

A team request that has nothing to do with video games or game development...gotta admit that's unique.
I can send you clips of me skating...would you believe that I look just like Tony Hawk?

Please have mercy and use the search function.

No, I'm not mad, but if you use the search, then you could gather more information before posting, then use that to ask for help from specific people (I know there's at least one person here who has posted skate vids before).

Take the initiative and show people that you're really interested, otherwise you're not going to get anyone helping you.

you know you're hardcore when you go onto a programming forum asking for skaters.

Why dont you check out blind's forums, or sbc's site, though I doubt you'll get many interested answers with such a vague post like that.

Make a freewebs site, put on a method of contacting you (the forums would do), along with a page showing videos of you and any members you currently have skating (youtube these as well to get crit). Advertise the freewebs site once you have a good amount of footy of yourself / friends, (good footy, not ollying a curb...) on places like sbc, and then maybe you'll get some submissions.

Obviously you'll need them to live near you... Im pretty sure having a skate team built up of skaters from around the world wont work.

And by all means, dont ever tell them you advertised on a programming forum.

Im actually putting together a skate team for a company Ive been working on over the summer that sells skateboards, the one tip I can offer is dont try to get a lot of "ok" skaters, get a few really good ones.

Or how about you go to a skate park and ask the people who skate? Actually, I think I'm gonna go skate myself right now.

when I was 8 i was watching a bird and fell off a play structure and broke my arm. Thats part of why, years later, I think birds are evil.

I have a skateboard, but never found it fun enough to learn past "move forwards downhill without falling", and "turning"

I dont understand how people cant find skating fun... Once you get your ollies down, you can go almost anywhere there's a solid surface to skate on.

Ollies usually take everyone a long time to get down. Most people I know, including myself, took months to get ollying up a curb. I guess if you're busy with other things you dont have the time to practice, but if all you're doing is watching TV, it'd be time better spent trying to get them down.

Having a licence generally helps for performing that particular activity.

Ruccus-That was the greatest line ever, anyway skating story from my younger years. When I was twelve i went to the local skate park to try out some moves. Apparantly I was so bad at it that while I was eating up at the benches, the other skaters broke my board in half. It was a sad day to be rejected that way. Anyway, haven't skated since been too afraid of making a fool of myself.

Eldest, I honestly still dont know what you're talking about. Maybe my blond roots are kicking in. I said practicing ollies is better than watching TV... you said having a license helps with that.

<edit>

Holy crap, I just searched on google... you really do need a TV license. Ok, sorry about that, I've never heard of that before.

</edit>

Anyways, Zombie, you generally dont go to skateparks when you're just starting out, as you'll just get in the way of the others and usually embarrass yourself. Thats pretty harsh breaking your deck though, a lot of skaters are pricks.

Ruccus-Yea I learned real quick after that I learned how to ollie and I was working on a kickflip when I stopped. So that was eight years ago and now i'm thinking of restarting to see how badly i'll do this time lol. My worst problem was going with the board though.
