Hi....

The first time I post on this board.

However... I thought it would fit here, more or less...
After seing many videos about stickfigures on youtube (I can\'t find stick fighting-videos there I don\'t already know..) I decided to create some animations myself, and downloaded the program Pivot. With this program it\'s easily (umm... yes.. more or less... very time-intensive.. ) possible to animate stickfigures how you want and create interesting scenes (Also with backgrounds etc...).
In my first two days I finished 11 animations. Some of the are really bad (10 frames long rubbish), but there are also some longer videos (30 seconds or more, around 300 frames) I made. I had much fun with them so far.. and I think for just two days of practice they aren\'t so bad.

Here a small \"preview\" (This is one of the shorter videos.. there are at least 4 which are better ):

You can find the other animations (all gif-files) here:

http://home.arcor.de/stickanimator/Animations/

Comment them if you want, or maybe, if there\'s another stick-animator on this forums, it would be very nice if he posted some links here too.. I love those stickman! (Maybe because of playing so much Stick Suicide 2.. you\'ll see, the more \"brutal\" videos may be inspired by this game. ^^)
Thanks... I\'m waiting.

the animations pretty good to be fair, I'm just a bit tired of stickmen dying, where's the animations of stickmen going to the shop to buy a pint of milk?

still, the self pwn is pretty funny.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I guess Stickmen were invented to die.
Hmmm do you really think a shopping stickman would be more interesting. I don't think so, but.. maybe, someone should animate a shopping-scene, so we can test it.
Thanks for the comment.

I also have the oldest version of pivot (or at least.. pivot 1.0 ), I think it doesn't support physics, you have to animate it completely yourself... The newest version is Pivot 3 beta, which has some more features, like loading sprites (this bone-based-blood is really frustrating ), multiple backgrounds etc. but in general it's the same..
Your animation reminds me of mortal kombat.

I don't know any other good applications for stick-animations (except flash, but there you have to draw everything I think... it's a completely different system), there are just some not very promising ones like Easy Cartoon (I think).
And people always want to see dying stickmen so why should people stop using pivot?

btw.. Uploaded the images on youtube, if anybody is interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aey-7I45d3Q

You dont draw each frame in flash if you know what you're doing. Its almost like rigging characters in 3D; you draw each limb "smartly" so it will animate properly (kind of like modelling a mesh smartly so it deforms right), set rotation points, make mini animations within each joint (like grabbing, throwing, biting, etc. ), and then play specific mini animations at specific points on the timeline, along with tweening the symbols (symbols are the equivelant of models... I guess) and adding filters to finish it off. Combine that with the action script language so you can basically "code" an animation... and you're set.

Far more than just drawing each frame.

OK.. a friend told me about flash, so I must have missunderstood something.

@TFMCR: You didn't post this weapon in the thread, did you? I don't think that I have downloaded it, and I tried to get all weapons from the thread to upload it on the stick suicide 2 homepage.

Ric, cool

I believe a stickman animator was made with DB, I'm not sure what it was called though.

I love stickmen...Stickmen can get kinda hard to use though when putting in backgrounds though..
anyway...here are some of my random animations..

ummm..I have some pretty old ones I'll go ahead and put here too...

http://earlz.biz.tm/the_fight.swf

http://earlz.biz.tm/christmas.swf

http://earlz.biz.tm/random.swf

http://earlz.biz.tm/howto.swf

http://earlz.biz.tm/yarmus.swf (mute the sound on this, it sucks for effects...)

umm..yea...that's basically everything stick based from my Flash Videos page..

edit:
Also, I prefer hand-drawn stick figures rather than straight-lined stickfigures...

I hardly ever use tweening though..I just can't make it work right...I have learned recently how to create a walking symbol and use motion-tweening for easy walking..

How do you do blood in pivot?

Nice animations though.

In pivot 3 you can use sprites for blood, but in this case I just used the figure-editor, created some "bones", colored them red in the scene and moved/scaled them then. A bit complicated and time-intensive, but it works. Nice avatar btw.

Cheers, I saw it on a forum a while back, and I needed a new avatar, so I spent about half an hour hunting it down .
