I am going away for a few days, and the only computer I will have with me is an old, about 3 to 4 years old, laptop. However, I am wanting to use DBP on it. I am wondering what is the best upgrade to get for it, hopefully that compiles into < dx9.0, but if not, then the lowest possible. I am also trying to use this to compile a program to have very low system requirements, as most computers don't have the latest DX.

So just wondering what the best update is, in regards to lowest system requirements versus bug fixes/new features.

Just a quick question is that meant to say "old 3 to 4 year old laptop" or "old 3 quarters of a year old laptop" ??

Ya, sorry about that, it's supposed to be 3 to 4 year-old. I'm not quite sure when I got it.

And just another question - is the basic version of DBP, the one that comes on the disc v1.055 (5.5 i guess) a stable version? should i upgrade or is it possible to downgrade?

Well, one thing I just unfortunately found out, is the base version of DBP acts like it's never heard of a global. "global" isn't a keyword, and it doesn't accept my global variables as existing (thinks that a global string variable is an integer). So, what is the next best version?
