its a discussion on the number 777, not if god exists, so we don't have to get in a twist about that, we are discussing the symbolic nature of 777,
If 7 comes from the seventh day-
My twist, as God is sometimes symbolized by the Sun, the 7th day is 'Sun'day, 6 is a number associated with the devil, the 6th day is Saturday, or Saturn day, (Satan) Saturn is the Roman god for the Greek Chronus, (chaos) very close in similarity to the word to the Ayyavazhi mythology Kroni or even Kali, I think they share the same original root.
So perhaps its a day thing.

That... does not answer my question at all. Okay, the 7th day. I got that (from the book of Genesis). But why 777?

@Jeku, I/we was focused on this part of the quote, which is quite literally asking for a debate, hence people made their comments. I was thinking it would need someone not quite so sensible to take that as a challenge. Though most members are mature enough not to and I dunno, you never know the 'debate' point may have been a joke because he also mentioned jesus, so fair play. I don't mind people mentioning their religion or beliefs, because I know it's not against the AUP, but I felt the following quote was.

Quote: "What I stated is not only theory, but is fact.

*now, let's get ready for a debate. "

With the 777 thing, I guess its a combination of the holy trinity (God, Jesus and the holy spirit) all are elements of this God who rested on the 7th day, rest is associated with peace and God is supposed to be peaceful and holy, Sunday has been a rest day for Christian culture and also the holy day of the week where people should attend Church, plus on Aagon G's point, I guess this would make the 7th day a glorious day of perfection as everything had been created in Abrahamic theology. That's what it could be, taking what I know and what people have said here and no real sources.

Thats pretty much what I was implying with my statement.

Time is ticking away.

Hmmm, I guess I agree that 7 is mentioned all over the Bible, just never 777 together. And actually Saturday is the 7th day, not Sunday

I am willing to wager an exorbitant amount of money that the world will not end in 2012, and there will be no large natural disasters (i.e. polar ice caps dissolving, etc.) in that year. The Mayans may have been smart, but there's absolutely no way they would be able to predict something so far in the future.

That's a very safe bet Jeku, because if you are wrong it doesn't matter. The world just ended.

Saturday then, though would probably contradict a couple of points made by someone about satan, saturn and saturday all being evil and Sunday being the holy day...perhaps someone has been playing with our calenders between 0AD and today, we're missing something or we're just pooing out of our mouths and talking out of our rear.

And again, I've never heard this before. Saturday is an English word, for one, so I've never heard of it being evil. Oh well, there's a lot of contriving required for theories, I guess. Kind of like when people say Bill Gates is the devil because his name adds up to 666 in ASCII character codes--- foolish, really. Grasping.

It's really very simple:

7 means "seven"
6 means "six"
777 means "seven hundred and seventy seven"
666 means "six hundred and sixty six"
4:59 means start heading for the door, boys. It's quittin' time.

But you go ahead and make them mean whatever you want.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Nor have I heard that, but anyone who watches the HSBC adverts in the UK will certainly know different cultures have their different superstitions, including bad days of the week. As for the Bill Gates thing, well you can make a conspiracy or make fun out of anything if you try hard enough. My full name is an anagram of Britney Spear with the remaining letters NFC (Bryn Stefan Price)
I'm sure someone could make a connection there, but I beg them not to, it's embarrassing enough.

The significance of '7' I guess will be a mystery to us unless we actually research into symbolism, I did some research on symbolism for religious studies, but very little and each symbol has an origin, some like the snake represents desire and greed in many cultures, though the laughing Buddha has a snake in his sack representing something else. Besides, as the joke says, 6 is the scared one and 7 is evil, simply because 7, 8, 9 (7 ate 9)

Depends if your hobby is running down old people, Benny, I make the joke all of the time so I guess I'd hear about one sooner or later.

Yeah I know, people have called my hill before lol, just don't let some of my newer friends know that one, they still haven't got over the fact I was born in wales and have given me the nickname 'Welshy' and often talk about sheep, though I have no welsh blood.

I used to know an English guy in college called Bryn. He had always been told (and told everyone who would listen) it meant mountain. He was a bit of a dweeby guy so he was totally distraught when he heard it was actually hill. Left Uni shortly afterwards...

Cheers

Then you find out that I was the same cry baby No, though I can understand why he thought it meant mountain, because I remember seeing a map of wales in geography and where we usually say 'mount' it had 'Bryn'.

Interesting...you have 69 posts as well...I'm sure it's a sign that pleasurable sex is evil...And so is the discussion of the numbers 777 - so I guess 777 is just like Chuck Norris, you just don't question it, it is, because it is.
