(I am really new)
Geoff.

Thank you for the quick answer, Ruccus.
I clicked on X as you suggested, and a "Confirm" window appeared, telling me that "to switch to project mode the current project needs to be closed.....".
I didn't think that I did want to switch to project mode, but I then got involved in a long trail of trying to respond to various windows asking me questions about projects, *.dba's, *dbpro's and *exe's which I didn't understand.

Rather than go into details at this stage, it may help if I explain that all I am wanting to do initially is to create a few simple *.dba's to help me to get used to the DB dialect of Basic.
Is it possible to configure the editor to allow me do this?

Yes. Follow the instructions on the windows to create a "Project". This is how DBP organises files. You have a project, and in this project you create your code files (*.dba).

Another option, is to click the "Create a new blank project" radio button, and then click ok. That makes it a bit more complicated to save though.

Thank you, malcolm2073 and Aralox.
That will get me further. I may be back.
Geoff.
