Specifically the recent Brotherhood one...

Why did you lock it - why not delete? I've noticed this tendency before, to lock and leave rather than delete.

It's to show other users that it wont be tolerated.
Since it's not offensive or anything like that, it's not completely delete-worthy, so we leave it there as a kind of 'No more of this' warning

If you knew what the link was, which the poster does, you'd understand just how good it is to have caught this one out (nothing explicit, so get your minds out of the gutter!)

[EDIT]
Oh, and I have a firm no-delete policy for any kind of data.
There's always the chance that somewhere along the track you may need or want something that's been deleted.
Like old Geri threads, etc

Yeah, deleting is the most extreme form of forum censorship, and censorship needs to be as relaxed as possible imo to keep the forum fair and just, while still protecting us from crap.

The brotherhood of spam basically. Methinks someone has been watching too much Fight Club.

The first rule of project brotherhood is we do not talk about project brotherhood.
The second rule of project brotherhood is we DO NOT TALK... no, hold on that's the first one...
The second rule of project brotherhood is no petting.

If we delete threads, infidels come along and repost them, as if their thread just went missing for no reason - if it gets locked then at least they can see it and get a telling off from a mod at the same time.

Unless you ban them for 1000 years, then it's all good.

We're going down... in a spiral to the ground...

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

We'll be dead by then so it will be someone else's problem.

You underestimate your powers young moderator. Be one with the forum.

Besides, anyone who can unicycle across a tightrope above a crocodile infested river, whilst juggling 5 jelly trifles and being shot at by Red Lectroids from the 8th dimension isn't going to get done in by a little thing like old age.

Without spoiling the trifle? Well, I suppose as an introductory test it is a little soft.
