Hey I'm thinking of buying a new PC. I don't want to upgrade to Vista quite yet but I see it kinda pointless to buy a old DX9 card. I was wondering how well DX9 games will run if I get a DX10 card and still run windows XP.

Will that even work?

I have XP home and an invidia 8600GTS. It works fine and it's very fast for my standards, although I mostly just play counterstrike source on it. Last time I checked ATI had a dx9 card that was faster and cheaper.

dx9 games work fine on dx10 cards... at least for the 8800GTX, which is what i have. ive had no problems with it. just make sure that you download the latest directx and card drivers and you're set

great game. I'd recommend it to anyone. I think that direct x10 will run any dx9 game at max settings but can't run it better than the games limit. Its cheaper to get a decent dx9 card that runs all dx9 games at max than get a x10 card but with all games and software going on to vista and x10 its probably more profitable to buy a x10 card.
