this is a weird problem i never ran into before and i would like some advice.

Yesterday i formatted a laptop IBM T30. the thing has a cd-rw/dvd drive. Weird problem involved the dvd drive part. It can read cds and it can read commercial dvds i bought like oblivion. However when i pop in a dvd i made myself, i does not respond to it.

the dvds are not damaged as my other laptop can read all of them.

I really have no idea. and to add to that. One dvd with 2 movies my friend burned for me Do work on the IBM laptop any other home-made dvds do not.

anyone have any idea?

It might be because your DVD drive can't read certain types of discs. There are DVD-R and DVD+R. Some readers aren't 100% compatible, so it may be having issues with that. See if your friend's DVDs are + or - and compare them with yours.

You are probably missing some Codec drivers.

Try installing the Movie recording software you used.

If that don't work try installing the DivX universial drivers.

DinoHunter (still no nVidia compo voucher!), CPU/GPU Benchmark, DarkFish Encryption DLL, War MMOG (WIP), 3D Model Viewer

Can anyone else play these DVDs? The burn might have been corrupted and not completed 100%.

try googling "divx" perhaps? It's not that difficult to find.

I'd recommend http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm. Install multiple codecs so you never have to worry about supporting other crap you might not know about.
