Well its happend! I am officially graduated from being a freshman (year 9) Today was my last day of school (woo hoo) now look out for me this summer as I have 12 weeks time that I can be coding

Damn. I miss those days.....

Just don't forget to use the days wisely. Make sure you plan how to divide up the time to your best advantage. My method was:-

1. Beer/Vodka/Rum/Diamond white/Paint stripper 50%
2. Women 20%
3. Coding 20%
4. Football 9%
5. Sleep 1%

But of course each to their own. You might want to try my mates method of increasing coding to 30% and women to 10%. But he was a lot sadder And I could type faster, so it all came out ok in the end

Me I forgot about coding for years once I hit that age, joined a rock'n roll band and made it more like 49% alcohol and 25% each of women and guitars, the remainder being for food and sleep but I can't in all consciousness reccomend that course of action to a fledgeling programmer now can I?

You can live the dream....

and you have to recommend that course of action to a fledgling programmer!!! Otherwise he might end up like "those other sort". You know, the one's who carried briefcases in uni, wore shirts (that were clean that day!!!!), and lived at home with his parents but commuted in every day. And didn't stink of beer and fags. Ahem. As in the smoking kind. Ah. As in the ones that come in a packet. Oh dear.... Oh, and were awake.

Ps. You can only really achieve real genius (unless you are a genius of course) in programming with excessive amounts of alcohol. Some find that extreme overdoses of pornography was good too (not everyone had the internet in those days....). A balance is always good. Heavily unbalanced by excessive alcohol. Of course. And any women if they were still awake and had met you before you started drinking (1988).

Hmm at 14 (year 9UK) I think I was more like

1. drinking bottles of (disgusting) Diamond white and smoking shared cigs outside a pakistani corner shop 50%
2. Actually being in the presence of girls 5% (and felt damned lucky )
3. Thinking about Girls constantly, 100%
4. Thinking about Girls and "reading" magazines from the afformentioned shop 25%
5. Coding 10%
6. Playing Doom 10% (It was simply jaw dropping for me at that time!)
7. Sleep - Ummm I couldn't, shaking from too much cheap booze, cigs and porn from corner shops

lol

Oh well mate, congratulations, that summer holiday was one of the happiest times I remember

I heard alcohol is restricted to 21 in some USA states. is that true?
whats it like in the uk, most of my uk buddies could not tell you the price of an alcoholic drink in a bar but i would guess its a lot cheaper than here.

I live in Somerset and in most places a pint of Lager is around £1.60 and Bitter is £1.20

Somewhere near London, and a pint of lager is around £2.50. Nice and expensive. Went in a bar the other day in Slough (slag heap of the world, where I happen to work) and was completely amazed at having to pay £3.10 for a pint. Never seen that outside of a nightclub.

indi-- the drinking age limit is 21 in all states as far as I know, it's not up to the state, it's a national law.

I thought the UK drinking law was something like 18 in a pub, but 14 in a house with elders, or somesuch. Don't know about the "any age" bit. Wouldn't imagine it would go down well if I treated my 3 year old niece to a nice Vodka and coke.

21 is nothing. Got rejected from a pub in Ireland once cos we wern't 25 yet. We were seriously smashed out of our skulls though and it turned out to be a gay club. Basically got sent there by an Irish guy (with his arms around loads of birds if I remember rightly) who said it was a cool place. Thought the black lift to get into the place was slightly dodgy.... Only time I got rejected because of my age though.

well any age as being responible age, or at an age when you know what you are doing.

Also you can only have sensible amounts, otherwise the parents get done for misstreatment of children.

Still i am 16 and get into Pubs often, even the odd night club.

For me, no, I dont drink, and personally when I am legal I dont think Ill drink much either
