Had some questions I can't seem to find an answer to. I read that to use active mode, the client sends PORT. And to use passive mode, it sends PASV. But after I connect to the ftp address, I can just send the USER and PASS and all seems ok. So does anyone know what mode the session will be running in?

After I have a client fairly development, I want to start making a server as well.

According to this, windows defaults to active mode and linux defaults to passive mode.

Hope that helps.
