This Project is Abandoned.

I will however try to recreate it with VB 07. (Thanks Cash Curtis II)

I think that you should include a insert button. Like Insert Picture and all of a suddent the code appears.

Jordan! Your back! Sweet!

This looks good, might come in handy!

I've made a text editor thats just about like notepad, but im also adding snippets and templates for HTML, CSS, and PHP. I will release the demo soon.

Sorry if my program competes with yours... I dont want to cause any harm.

Just some advice, try to add syntax highlighting for the code commands. I will do that for my text editor.

In the meantime, do you think you can check out XenWorld Editor on this board? Thanks!

Good Luck,
Xeno

This program looks like it will be pretty useful, especially:

Good luck

Well, the demo works. It seems like a version of notepad, so I'm waiting for syntax highlighting and the like. I must add, it seems you've got something working and working good this time!

I noticed that if I cancel saving I get an error:
Quote: "Cannot find path at line 4."

Besides, keep it up!

Uhm, no, that doesn't go that fast with an uncompleted program. I still rather use notepad until you got your syntax highlighting. Then I might consider switching. For now, not being able to open files keeps me away from using webpad, lol.

@the_rami
Notepad? I think you should try Notepad++....

@JSG
I don't think you'll get any syntax highlighting with BlueGUI... I own blue, and it doesn't have any features good enough for syntax highlighting. However (Not to steer you away from blue), I would suggest that in the future, but not currently, you use WinGUI for syntax highlighting.

Cheers,

-naota

Here is WinGUI :

Just a note, it is generally considered poor forum etiquette to bump your thread during the same day as a previous post, especially if the last post was from you.

The program looks like you are making progress though, good luck with it

You forgot the etiquette again. Notepad++ looks interesting.
Don't bump, JSG, not even with *sniff* unless you really got something to say. It doesn't matter if it drops a while - just update when you got something important.

I think there is a slight misunderstanding (or perhaps its just me). The program doesn't write it for you, you are the one who writes the PHP/SQL/XML/etc the IDE/Editor just highlights and recognises it for you.

I also don't particularly like the idea that I have to be running DirectX9.0c or have to run a memory-hungry application to develop my website when I may already be running Photoshop, Firefox etc. That's just my opinion. I do, however, run Zend studio so I could be considered hypocritical as the Java prequisite and memory requirement is large but that holds many useful features. If it was a program 'more advanced' than just a text-box then I wouldn't quibble against using it.

This post sounds horrible critical and nasty but that is not how it is meant to be peceived. I consider myself proficient in website design and this is merely my opinion on the matter.

Rich

DBP isn't a good choice for an application like this. You have all of DBP's bloat but none of its strengths. Purebasic uses similar syntax but is amazingly fast and has no DX requirement. You should look into that JSG. Of course you can use VB 2007, but there is practically no learning curve with Purebasic and it's a breeze to install.

Come see the WIP!
