Hello, I recently got 1 new PC specifically for Digital Audio Editing. I am using programs such as: Reason, Sony Acid, Guitar Rig, and a few others.

The Specs of the computer are High, ie: Intel C2D 6400,1gb ram, Nvidia Geforce 7900GT, Xi-fi Soundcard.

The main thing I was wondering is the Operating system I would be best off to use. Now, as you can imagine, I am limited to Windows, but I was wondering what would be the best version. I have a MSDN license for Vista Ultimate, and I have an old copy of Windows XP Media Center, but which would be the best to use?

I would just like to know what you would prefer for this type of Machine. Note: I have used vista before, so it isnt new to me, its just not used in this type of situation right now.

Time is ticking away.

I'd get XP Professional, as some products are "incompatible" with Media Center edition. Just my $0.02 though.

I use Vista and Reason 3, and it doesn't always agree with the OS. Sometimes it won't play sound at all, won't load sounds, etc.. Overall, in Vista it's buggy. It worked much better in Media Center Edition '05 for me.

@Torsten, make sure you have your own drivers installed, vista will try to install drivers at the start but sometimes it doesn't bother.
