I got a new computer and I am copying files to it and don't want to register each one again how would I find my registy info for programs?

Well that worked but where and how would I find and export all my registry info on applications to add to my new computer?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

right click on the company or product name and click the export button.

I would recommend reinstalling, the registry is incredibly complicated. Software is free to put settings wherever it pleases, and so you probably won't find all of it's settings in the software section. Software can also rely on external libraries that register special entries, and probably won't work without them.

So would I. Registries tend to get somewhat corrupt over time (well mine has) so it would be unwise to copy it over. A new machine is a good opportunity to start with a clean system - don't mess it up straight away.

I agree with Green Gandalf. A new computer is a chance to start clean, without any problems or accumulated, unlocatable junk.

Reinstall only the programs you need, and copy over only the data which is really important. Then leave your old computer intact so if there's something you forgot, you still have access to it.
