Yeah, I know. This is an extremely noobish question, but I just need it answered then a mod can lock this.

Where can you find the R.A.M.? Does it say on the graphics card? I was doing one of those build your own computer on a comp. site and I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'m trying to get a comp. with at least 2048 MB of RAM.

It usually says it on the physcial chipset itself.

If you don't know that RAM comes in sticks, then I don't think you are ready to build a computer.

Graphic cards have RAM, so that they don't use up the RAM you have installed to the motherboard.

2Gig of RAM:

Wait, did TP NOT know that RAM comes in chipsets? Or did you know but there was no label on the stick itself?

I agree, if you don't know that RAM comes in sticks, I don't think you're ready to build a computer.

You should get some more experience before you build your first computer.

Your ram is fairly easy to spot, if you know what it looks like, as higgins said, they come in sticks and they slot in without screws or anything like that. Of course before you do anything like that, you'll need to know what ram the motherboard can handle, how much ram each slot can hold and how many slots, for example my mother board can handle two 512mb SDRam DIMM PC133, CL2. If you're confused by that, I'm afraid you might not want to buy ram without expert advice etc.

That being said, the cache latency is not something to get worked up over for someone who just wants to upgrade their system and only serves to confuse them. Frankly, I've never noticed a difference between 2.0 and 3.0 ms latency (maybe because I don't play games a whole lot).

That's not as bad as you think you said.

No I knew it came in strips (my dad is a comp. tech guy) but I didn't see it on the build a comp thingie....it only showed it on the graphics card so I got confused.

What about giving us a link to the "build a comp thingie" you're talking about? And if you already bought the RAM, any picture you might have taken so that we know what you're talking about? Because I don't.

And if your dad is a comp. tech guy, I believe that a technician should be able to help you much more than we ever could.
