The Little Book of Source Code
The Little Book of Source Code, is a private project, designed to create a book, that's much lighter than Hand on DarkBASIC Professional. Thus cheaper to print, and much cheaper to post. I am also exploring an eBook delivery system for those users who just want to read it off their PDA, PC screen, and perhaps even a PSP. It covers the core commands of the DarkBASIC language, and teaches by example. Each command, and theory explored in the book, is backed up with an example source code program, designed to demonstrate exactly how to deploy and get the most out of commands, and shows series of commands working together. Be it placing text on the screen, making decisions with with IF and CASE statements, dealing with variables, and even allowing a sphere to orbit another sphere. The book itself will be approximately 100 - 150 pages long, and best of all the book will end with the full source code to several games! Seeing many of these commands come together in a real life situation. Demo's of each game will be submitted to this thread prior to launch for people to try out. The book currently stands at 75 Pages long, and is growing by the day.
If you are interested in making a little cash towards the end of August, or the beginning of September. I will be looking for 1 experienced programmer, and 1 novice to proof read, and make suggestions. There will be payment, I don't expect people to take time out of their lives for nothing. These users will receive a sample print of the book that they can write corrections and suggetions directly into, then as soon as the book is posted back to me, I'll pay via paypal, or cheque. If you are outside of the UK, it will be paypal only.
