Hey all,

I've finally got around to buying up a few old X-Box classics for use on my 360. I bought Jet Set Radio (what a cool game!), Outrun 2006 (what an AWESOME game!) and Halo 2.

I'm working my way through Halo 2 right now, and besides being utterly superb in every respect I'm having trouble with the 360s controller not having the buttons I need. For example I'm currently on the part where you play the Arbitrator, but I cannot activate my cloak. I can't switch grenade types either.

Anyone know how to get around this? (without actually buying an X-Box of course)

The game is stunning though, I've had a real blast so far and the story-line is way cool. I bought it so I'd be "up to speed" when Halo 3 hits later in the year.

You use either one of the bumpers (RB or LB) to activate the cloak (Arbiter) or light (Master Chief) i cant remember which?

Have fun playing.

Add me if you got Xbox live please -_-

I think you need to use the second set of shoulder buttons, these are instead of the black and white buttons I'm pretty sure.

I've played it on the 360, just recently in fact and I'm sure that's how you do it, got completely owned on Live, but it is a pretty good game - make sure you pick up the original Halo as well though, I prefer the originals weapons and plot.

Yeah there's the 'shoulder' buttons and then there's the 'trigger' buttons.

I blame the GC.

---------------

Did you not get Halo as well?!

You should also get Fable, if we're playing the get-up-to-speed game.

I tried the shoulder buttons, it worked for the torch (when playing as Master Chief obviously) but not the cloak, nor grenade switching.

Weirdness.

Hmmm, if the buttons definitely work, then I can only think there might be a BC update you can download?

But maybe you already have that?

The Bumpers are the same as the Black and White and in that order! And I remember to Change grenades on the Arbiter it was the same as Master Chief. They won't change. But the Cloak should be the flash-light button.

I know you're only able to activate the cloak every so often, not all the time. So perhaps you just weren't able to at that point in the game?

How do you like the up-res'ness of the game on your 360? I don't understand all the criticism of Halo 2--- in fact I prefer the single-player campaign over the first Halo.

It's only valid critism is that it's just the same (brilliant) stuff.

If you switched them round, Halo 2 would be the industry effecting masterpiece and Halo would be it's cookie-cutter sequel.

I had just got off the Banshee, the Elites were with me, we were about to enter the base and then they all cloaked up and the voice over told me to as well! Ah well, it doesn't matter, I go through it all without a cloak, can carry on so

The shoulder buttons should technically swap grenades too then, but they just don't do anything I'll try again tonight, perhaps try the controller config and see what gives.

I'm loving it so far.. the first Halo game was amazing, but this is something else. Like being part of a space opera! The Scorpion tank, the scarab, the role switching, dual wielding (which actually I find frustrating at times), ahh.. tis wonderful and looks superb on my 360.

I simply cannot wait for Halo 3. I will certainly be one of those pre-ordering, day-off-work to play it people Campaign only though, don't care for multiplayer.

RT - Throw Grenades (Secondary Weapon Fire)
RB - Change Grenade Type
LT - Primary Weapon Fire
LB - Light (Automatically turns on due to brightness) / Cloak (15second activation, 25second recharge)
Left Thumb - Movement (Click to Crouch)
Right Thumb - Look (Click to Zoom)
X - Action
Y - Swap/Change Weapon
A - Jump
B - Melee
Back - Score / Menu
Start - Menu

That's the default config.. the only difference between Xbox original and Xbox 360 is RB/LB = White/Black
Everything else is in the same place and function.. just easier ^_^

I think the best part of Halo 2 is campaign co-op and multiplayer (not xbox live).. cause it's just a laugh with mates, it's that whole charm the nintendo consoles have always had cause being in the same room with someone talking smack at them is more fun that being on seperate continants on your own.

Did everyone hear about Halo 3's four player coop??

It's not like the original where they just slap another Spartan in there and never mention him, in 3 there are all proper characters, one guy plays as MC, one guy plays as arbitor, two others play as Elites.

You can also mix it where two people can play on the same 360 (split screen), as part of an online group of 4.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/top/bungie-details-halo-coop-284579.php

I've only played Halo 2 briefly on Live, and it was pretty good, but the multiplayer splitscreen with mates is just awesome. It's the spiritual sequel to Goldeneye, probably still the only game to better it.

yeah, i'm not to fussed on it online either tbh
it's the social aspect of multiplayer in the same room that makes it so cool, especially as the halo-series has always been so well balanced

would totally agree that nothing lived up to goldeneye multiplayer wise, but the halo-series is pretty damn close.

Just been playing Halo2, you know Rich you have to hold the left bumper button to activate the cloak, are you holding it long enough?

I'm also beginning to look for xbox games to try on my 360, and Halo 2 is on top of my list. You say I should get 1 instead?

Fable was on my list too... I'm thinking of hunting down one of the Ninja Gaidens too. Any more suggestions?

I was shocked to see that MGS 2: Substance is not on the backwards comp list! I wish they fix that one because, if I remember the reviews right, it was pretty good.

I have vague plans for World Domination

I just got morrowind GOTY edition for my 360, man that game is alot harder than oblivion. I have both the halo's aswell, after I beat the story I went on live waited about 3 hours downloading map packs so I could actually play and then got COMPLETELY SPANKED. I have fable and a few others aswell, although I sold shenmue 2 and Star wars KOTOR they weren't as good as I remembered.
I just bought a wii though so I haven't played my xbox in a while, trying to perfect my golf on wii sports

I finally changed the bad spelling

This thread reminded me of the original in engine trailer for Halo 3, just watched it again and bloody hell completely forgot how amazing it is.

Tingles every time!

The Halo Wars one is awesome too, but not in engine...
