Well i was looking for a card under £220 (around $300-350) and found these 2, both 8800 cards with x10 capabilities, one with 320mb memory and the other with 640mb. The prices are sort of close and i am having trouble choosing which card, the user reviews on the 320mb version are 99% positive however the ones for the 340 are mainly negative. being a PC noob i have no idea which is the better card.

8800 320mb version(superclocked):

8800 640mb version:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=203444496&SearchEngine=ya&SearchTerm=203444496&Type=PI&Category=Comp&dcaid=17194

Which is better/will run faster/have higher frames per second, and why?

Please have a look at both because i probably didnt explain well enough and im going on what you tell me =/

Thanks alot ^___^

depends. Its mainly dependent on the resolution you play at. Playing at lower res the 320mb superclocked would be much faster,since its factory oced and it won't need as much vram. On the other hand,if you plan on using high res textures and or playing at high resolutions,go for the 640mb.

I'd say 1280x1024 is still lowres. Thats probably the highest resolution you could go before the 640mb edition pulls ahead. 1600x1400 is mainly where I saw the 640mb edition pull ahead at.

Edit - Ok,I'm seeing the 640mb edition pulling ahead at 1280x1024,so I'd say low res is 1024x768 and lower.

ok, so do you suggest the 320 or the 640 =/ i was thinking 320 now, because most pc games/applications run in 1024x768? =S

well,usually games allow you to choose. It all depends on the monitor you have and if you plan on using high res textures. Like,if you have a monitor that only goes up to 1280x1024 then I'd say get the 320 and save some money. Actually,if I were you,I'd get an 8600GTS to save money,because come christmas the geforce 9 series is coming out. And the geforce 8 series isn't really qualified all that much for dx10 gameplay,short of having two 8800GTXs. Most people who are experts with gpus have tended to stay with high end dx9 cards,because really all the geforce 8 cards are are really really amazing directx 9 cards with dx10 support slapped on. So go low end, then when the geforce 9800gts comes out(which is double the power of an 8800ultra),get that. Thats what I'm doing. Because I highly doubt you will be able to play a fully featured dx10 game on a geforce 8 card on max settings. And don't use fpsc x10 as an example,because it isn't considered a very high end game. As far as I've seen,all fpsc x10 utilizes very well is bloom(not hdr,at least not that I have heard of),normal mapping(which every dx9 game uses pretty much),and soft shadows(this is the only thing I haven't seen in many dx9 games). Thats my views on all of this... Actually,I'm going with an 8800gts 320mb version because I won't be able to upgrade my computer in 18 months(thats when I'll be out of debt for it...). But then I'll be getting whatever amazing gpu is out,which will probably be the geforce 10 series,haha.

Nah,neither require vista. Dx10 does,on the other hand,require vista. I have some friends who use the 320mb on xp. So don't worry about that
