I'm trying to turn a counter-strike source demo into a video i can upload to my website and stream on there for people to view. But since you cannot turn a demo file from source into a AVI or what not directly. i need to find some type of screen capture that will capture everything in real time, and then save it to a AVI or mpeg or anything like that. Anyone know of a good program to do that?

I'v already googled it but im coming up empty with only programs that edit already made video's no programs that will just capture whats on my screen in real time.

Preferably something thats free to use. Fraps will only do 30 second video's if you don't register it

I've found a good one is 7Cove demorec.

trial version is infinite use, huge splash at the bottom right corner, and no sound.

captures at 640,480 striaght to the hard disk in real time with no noticeable slowdown even on a single core processor. Games won't slow down to match the frame rate being recorded at.

Since you're playing back a precorded demo, slow down won't be As much of an issue anyway

It captures to its own custom format that you convert to an avi or sequence of bitmaps once the capture is finished and you can encode the avi with any codecs installed on your system.

if you really do need higher resolutions, you can also capture straight to RAM, allowing much higher resolutions to be captured smoothly, but you'll probably need in excess of 2GB to get any decent recording length out of this method

Edit: free? you could be looking for some time

Found one, but however despite the advertising as "free" it has a "buy now" button.http://www.bestvistadownloads.com/download-free-screen-capture-software.html

Make sure you get the lossless avi codec with CamStudio too, so you can have real-time capture with top quality.

Yeah, but you can just hit F9 after 30 seconds to record again, and then combine the videos .

And with Videodub, you can remove the fraps notice at top too... No-one ever claimed that's illegal... The video's captured with fraps are not illegal to edit... thus not illegal to crop, I guess .
