Newcomers DBPro Corner / Game menu (not how to make one !)

In most games now you can see the background trough the menu (like ghosted). How can i make this effect.

hmmm...yes I have this problem too with my game. The best way I've found to do this is to create plains, lock the z, then size them to fit on the screen correctly, texture them with whatever and then ghost them. sprites are bad for one reason: There's no way for the text command to go over them, so it's useless to use them as bgs.

hmmm, well I think the easiest way would be to use a sprite and use SET SPRITE ALPHA.

I think I've recommended this code snippet more times than I've had hot dinners now...see source button.

Not my code, I just tweaked it a bit. Base all your sizes on an 800 x 600 screen, irrespective of what you are actually running in.
