Im currently downloading the trial and while i wait i was wondering if anyone could answer some questions I have.
Basicly I wanted to know if it's possible to create RPG elements in the games for example increase your reload speed after x amount of kills or run speed after x meters walked. Just some subtle things that would give an edge to a game i make. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Nope, would be possible with variables, but there are no custom ones in FPSC.

I think X10 will be more rpg friendly.
But most gave up on trying that in this version.

nope X10 has basically no new features like variables. It's just FPSC X9 with water, more effects and instancing.

TATBS 1.8 is now fully functional. Brilodis is having its districts extracted to Battle City. Krina and Karin are twice the size. And you’ll see 5 times as many breeds of monsters... It’s Kalspher V3.

if you are after an rpg style game use db or dbpro, its called first person shooter creator for a reason.

ANYWHO

If you want something simple, try the 3dgamemaker, that has the things your looking for and it has a VERY easy to use interface.

Errrrm ....... I guess you havent read this months newsletter then.

Quote: "We have added new property fields to the entities to cover some of the requests we have received such as a SCORE property. The engine now supports a score to be displayed on the screen, each entity can have its own score value and the player has a new objective type called SCORE GOAL which wins the level when the player reaches the desired value. The inspiration for this has come from the more creative community of game makers who recognise FPSC can create great games without the need to add a single gun. By using challenging room designs, obstacles, puzzles and now scoring, the player can have a great deal of fun without having to shoot anything. We hope to extend this in the future to include more non-shooting elements, and start creeping into more genres such as adventure, rpg and more sophisticated puzzle solving."

I second what MTC said! Everyone kept on bugging them about it, so they did it. RPG's will deffinatly be possible in X10. I just hope they add this kind of feature to X9.

Thanks guys. Like Schlozz, I too was interested in FPSC for creating my FPS with RPG Elements (Adjustable Stats Variables that modify Gun damage, accuracy, rate of rire, ammo type, etc). It doesn't appear to be possible without major source/script code modifications.

I'd prefer to focus on Art assets then code assets.

back to the lab...
