Okay, so I have this friend who used to work at a real-estate company, and he was fired because he wouldn't sell an illegal drug (pot) for his boss. What are your thoughts on this?

Cheers,

Yeah, but now he has nothing he can do. He's on house arrest for punching someone (He was going to punch his boss, but decided against that). Also, he has been going to court for something the city was ill-informed about, and his previous lawyer screwed him over. It sucks really.. The original reason he went to court was because his house was raided and he was charged with the crime, even though it was his room mate who was using the house without him knowing. It wasn't even his fault and he's getting blamed for it. :/ It's sad really.

Why is he on house arrest for not punching anyone? I would punch him too, or worse...probably worse.

Aah, I've given up on thinking life is fair. Life sucks. But stories like these make me feel lucky for knowing there are people with worse situations than mine - wish I could help.

Best of luck to your friend - things'll get brighter (must be Little Bright Dots' most used phrase). Terran space is a harsh, unfair and corrupt place.

Thanks all. I'll keep you all updated on what happens, hopefully it'll get better.

As a side note, there was this one time where the police showed up at his house for his grass being too high (It was complained about by the neighbors), and yet there was so much trash and random crap around the city... That was kind of screwed up too because it's the cities job to cleanup their own public property, and yet they'll go against someone for having too high grass....

Dude that does suck, I mean it's illegal to fire someone on unreasonable charges, so your friend should call the authorities on his old boss. As for your friend's current charges is the reason why I've never really had much faith in the legal system of the USA and UK, innocent people get convicted when they shouldn't, heck sometimes when they're clearly innocent. As for house arrest for punching a guy, personally I think that's a wee bit extreme, surely a caution, a fine or a night in the cell is the right charge.

Well all I can say is best of luck to your friend.

Neither have eye... Especially if you can sue McDonalds for their coffee being too hot, and you burning yourself... <Too Hot being the normal tempurature of coffee in McDonalds> Or holding a lawn mower near the blades to cut some bushes, and your fingers get chopped off.... (Someone sued the company because they didn't have a caution sign saying not to go near the blades....)

This doens't make me sad, but it severly pisses me off. I would hate to be the boss who treated me the same way. It's unacceptable on so many levels, it's a wonder he didn't punch him.

The legal system isn't even legal.....that's usually a bad sign.

Hey look! Manic made a to-do list.

I hope everything works out for your buddy, he seems to be in a somewhat unfortunate situation.

It seems to me this guy is a victim of his own stupidity... What's he doing punching people, that's certainly not going to help his case. And poor city garbage collection is no excuse for not mowing his lawn.

As for his job, that does suck, but he's not going to have much of a case because he made friends with someone who's a loser and got him into trouble in other issues (which I assume is also drug related).

If you want my advice, I'd stop associating with this guy wherever possible, even if he says "it's not his fault".

Actually he never once said anything wasn't his fault, I'm the one who sees it as the other people's fault. He was friends with someone he thought he could trust, but apparently that wasn't so... I can't see that as his fault, he couldn't have known from how his friend was acting. As for punching someone in the face, that person REALLY deserved it, but yeah that still doesn't help in court. He was gonna punch his boss in the face, but decided against it. Anyways, so far the day has only begun here, nothing much happened today besides him waking up in my living room to the sound of my nephew crying.

I disagree, what if it was a rapist? Someone who killed your family and got away with it? A person who runs a country and do unjust things while getting away with it saying it is just when it's clearly not? I'd punch him/her/it right in the kisser if the opportunity ever arose!

On a sidenote; i have punched a rapist, but not in the face, still felt good though.

Well, he didn't have a reason not to mow his lawn. However, the police arriving complaining about his lawn when everything else looked like crap was a bit hypocritical, don't you think?

Anyways, I actually like the tall grass, makes everything look exotic. Besides, it's his lawn, wtf should anyone else care what it looks like? It's none of their business... But public property is the city's problem, and the city wouldn't take care of their problem, instead order someone else to take care of his problem, then continue on like they haven't got a problem.

drugs and violence have no place in a programming forum, this isnt a "days of your lives".tv re-run
selling pot at a business and knowing these people, plus spreading the gospel of it is also ridiculous and pointless telling a forum.
Be careful with those people who sell and procure drugs, it can lead to death and shootings.
walk away and get on with your real life

Yeah, the legal system is lame, heres another example:

A woman washed her dog and decided she couldn't be bothered drying it with a towel.
She decided it was a good idea to dry it in the microwave to dry it and of course....

IT EXPLODED!

Anyways she sued the microwave company for millions because the microwave didn't have a sign on it saying "Do not put pets in this microwave" on it. And she didn't face any punishment for killing the dog...
