I've just finished a program that lets you create stunning lighting effects in just a few mouseclicks, and then exports them as source code that can be used by DBC and DBPro.

Selling this software is not a problem (I intend to use Paypal) but distributing it afterwards is. I've made a trial version with just the export code feature disabled, and had planned to use an update patch to convert it to the full version once a copy of the program had been bought. Unfortunately, my Gmail address won't let me send exe files for security reasons.

Is there any other way I can distribute the software and make sure users can only access the full version once they've paid me?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you have a website, you can make a page with a link to download it, that can only be entered with a password, this password sent in the e-mail.
I don't know about the security of this though: There are javascript commands that allow you to view all of the pages and media files in a website.

I think there are security systems that will only let you download a file if you have completed the paying form, try something like that

Sounds good, OBese87, but how would I set up that kind of thing? I'm afraid I'm not really skilled in webpage design...

me neither.
I would make it so the that when the payment is complete it sends a variable to the server that initiates the download.
Maybe paypal have things setup for this type of thing.

Gmail catches that too

Did someone say 3D scanning on my desk, or was that just an AdBot?

At my school they only let u upload files with certian extensions on them. But, if you change the extension to something else, they won't catch it.

So, My advise is, if you want to send it thru g-mail, change the file extension (.EXE) into something like (.RFT) or w/e you choose. Also put instructions in the e-mail to the recipiant to change the extension back to .EXE, this is risky however. Although im pretty positive that changing the extension will have no effect on the data inside. As long as the recipiant changes the extension back it should work just fine.

Make sure to give the recipiant detailed instructions on how to change the filename exension back to .exe.

that is what i would do. Just compress it into a zip file and put a password on it. Then instead of e-mailing them the .zip, have them download it and send them the password after they pay.

(Y=M*X+B)=(X=(Y-B)/M)=(B=Y-M*X)=(M=Y-B/X)
and if you can figure out what it means i will give you a cookie.

That's what I lighted on in the end. Far less hassle...

Thanks for all the suggestions though!
