Hey i've been searching the forums and heard of this thing called Blender that makes characters and stuff, well what else does it do, where can I get it, and how much $ is it.

Well for starters it does NOT "Make Characters".
It is a free open source modeling tool and if you look on blender.org it will tell you exactly what you can do with it but if you haven't any knowledge about how to make 3D meshes with polygons, first learn about that and come back in a month or so before attempting to "make a game".
No offense but I assume people just think that they can just shake it out of their sleeves.
