Real violent chavs aren't common, so it's really a huge problem, they're just anti social youth who are wannabe gangsters and go around vandalising and cause trouble - sometimes violent and even mugging - and to come across the violent kind you need to walk down a dodgy street. Though the main cities have gangs of them - London is one, so is Peterborough, but neither are the worst - High Wicombe (Buckinghamshire) is kind of bad vs the Black vs White gangs. Rural places tend to have minimal amounts, heck probably close to none. My village and other surrounding villages don't have any.

Chav or chavvie is a London or Essex term for a mischievous child, "Council Housing and Violence" was just made up by The Sun.
I'm glad the word isn't as popular now because it was crazy, every five minutes you'd hear it, even on the news!
They're all weeds anyway, I stood up to about 10 of them on my own and they just backed off. It's people like that that makes me wish we had the Mafia in this country they'd soon deal with them.

Easier to describe them is common as muck (it's not just the kids that hang around outside shops). In the US you would probably call them trailer trash. Not as if they are all violent or anything, but come across like they would be. Plus not everyone who lives where they live (normally run down mainly government - ie us lot - paid for houses) is a chav. Just seems to be expanding. If you watch Idiocracy then that is pretty close, although is set in America.

Heh, I remember reading an article that said one town had a load of OAPs dressing up in the typical chav kid gear (hoodie over top of baseball cap) and hanging around outside shops. Apparently the kids were so put off that they stopped wearing the stuff. Gotta love that.

That's amusing and I love it, I remember my Nan suggesting that she go happy slapping the chavs to show them how stupid and pathetic they are - but then she's your typical Irish drunk and I could easily imagine that being hilarious.

I remember visiting my friends house in Ireland. Apart from the not understanding half of what people said (they don't use gaps between words much, although she admitted later that she couldn't understand my Welsh grandparents either) the place was packed. She had like 7 brothers and sisters, then her aunt turned up with her 10 kids.

Most amusing thing was though that she said we could not go to bed before her granddad did. Sign of respect or something. Every other bugger went off at about 1am though after many games of mercy, knuckles, raps, and slaps. I'm not bad at those games, but I hurt quite a bit afterwards. Geek hands versus mostly farm hand hands just doesn't help. Anyway, her granddad made us drink whiskey until 4am. Git. He must of been like 100 or something too. I was only 19. Almost fell apart that night.

And now for an eternal debate..my history says I come from a clan in scotland..I think it said glasglow but i'm not sure..have to check. So now forever there will be people calling me irish and calling me scot. Either way..I feel this presence its like this need to dance when I hear traditional irish dance or celtic...I enjoy the company of friends and I love a good round of drinks, and yes my father too is protective of his drink..although now that I'm older I get to partake.

And make a trip to Dublin or some such place in Ireland. Is worth the trip. We used to live on an island in Wales quite near Ireland so used to pop over quite a lot (international waters means you can keep drinking after pubs close).

I remember this other time when we were watching a big world cup football game. This bloke who came with us happened to remark that I was English. Basically he was this extremely stupid Welsh person. Anyway, I'm sure he did it thinking it would cause some kind of massive fight or something I laughed and said I was half english, as I was born there, but all my relatives are Welsh (and at the time had only lived in England for about 4 years of my life). He then said I was only half a ****. Heh heh heh. Gotta love that sort of thing. Welsh twit shut the hell up after that.

Hahahaha that would have been funny to see..i'm actually a tad welsh myself..though I don't proudly flaunt that as much as I do that I'm from scot. My ancestors went everywhere..got some norse in me and some german and for some reason swede..where were my guys going hahaha.

Oh I most definetly want to visit..I want to stay..it just feels right. Well who knows what will happen...the world's a crazy place, as well I'm saving up some money for bagpipes becasue I'm learning how to play all instruments for the dances.

That sounds about right, most Irish families are Roman Catholic, so they can't use contraception of course - hence my Nan had 6 kids - not as bad as 10 though - and that many kids is insane, because when you have spoiled brat attention seekers some kids get too let out, like my Uncle John (Who unfortunately turned out for the worst)

Irish dancing eh? Well I did the river dance in Sainsburys while it was playing (Seriously, I got a lot of funny looks), so why not?

Thats right haha..I go to a celtic fest and the rennisansce fair here every year and take in the dancing. Everyone is one big community there and its so cool..I never want to leave and I always end up with a bunch of new friends. Next May I'll be able to sit and have some ale..but meh..I can already outdo a lot of people.

Not sure how we started talking about this... buuuut nevermind, heheh.

I've been starting to go out a little more. Problem is that my friends are still as boring as ever, so I'm trying to make new friends (and not exactly ditch my old ones), I'm also gonna start playing guitar with my friend more now, and hang around with his friends, etc. Life is getting better, but it's still moving incredibly slowly... I can't wait till I start uni

I've been attacked by a chav, he wasn't very good at it though. I think the smoking, drinking, taking drugs and lack of exercise caught up on him as even I, the weakest person in the north east could:

1) Beat him to the ground
2) Beat his best friend to the ground
3) Run away at twice their speed

I was very happy for myself after that. Not for actually kicking them in but because they've been giving everyone round where I live hell for at least 1 and a half years now.

Next year.. I could have actually just left school because it's my last year, but I wanted to get my higher English and Advanced computing (on that note, my teacher knows precisely nothing about OOP )
