Hey all,

About 2 months ago I purchased a brand new laptop(asus f3sv) and so far its been everything I've hoped for. However a few days ago the battery started acting funny. I used to be able to get about 1-2 hours of battery on high performance mode, but now I can hardly get 25 minutes out of the battery, even on power saving mode! Is it possible for a battery to go partially bad? And if so, is my only solution to send in for a new one?

The worst thing for a laptop battery is using the spinning media drives DVD/CD/HardDrive.
Virtual Memory, adds to the battery chewing up hard drive motor power.
Moving parts chew a lot of power.

A review I just read online gives it a poor battery life rating, probably because its a beefy laptop.

Conclusion

The Asus F3sv is a phenomenal 15.4” notebook in all respects. While it is relatively heavy and has poor battery life, it's compromised portability is vastly outweighed by its feature set, performance, build quality and total polish.

It doesn't sound right for it to be that low.
Just dig out your warranty and then call them or hit the website, or the dealer you bought it from.

Battery sounds duff.

Never let rechargable batts go completely flat because they sometimes cannot recover.

What usually helps with batteries is that you first empty them as much as possible and then charge them for 24 hours. To make your battery last as long as possible it's recomended that you do not recarge it before it's been emptied as much as possible and that you never partially recharge it.

1-2 hour batteries usually aren't ment to be anything but a convinience. Like you have to unplug the laptop to move it. The most portable modern laptops have 7-9 hours of battery time.

Another thing, if you play games, it runs your CPU at 100% which will use your battery up fast and may make you think your battery is faulty.

If you're only web browsing or using word the battery will last loads longer as the CPU isn't used much.
