Sweet, some cool looking games in there. I've played the demo of Mr Robot before and it was quite something. I would have bought it if I had more cash to spend.

Some nice looking games.

Shame they restricted it to just PC games... There's a massive indie market out there for consoles, Macs and Linux. I've seen some really quality games on the GBA that could put alot of those on the list to complete shame.

Hmm i would have been more impressed if it didn't require an affiliate program and they reviewed free games. How do we know the games voted best are not those who pay the affiliate more?

Still nice to see Sam & Max are still hanging around

DinoHunter (still no nVidia compo voucher!), CPU/GPU Benchmark, DarkFish Encryption DLL, War MMOG (WIP), 3D Model Viewer

Some really nice games, but I agree with Gator, if they had a list of freeware games too then that would be pretty cool, actually having a list of the best freeware with links would have been great.

@Van B: Go ahead and post that link too. The more the merrier

@Gator: It's possible, but it's still a fun list to look at.

@JessT: Yea, especially with XNA out. I'd love to tinker around with games for the 360, but I'm not that great at programming yet

I've seen Sam and Max around before... I can't put my finger on it though... was it made here?

I noticed Naked War and Master Defense were some Blitz3D games, and Minions of Mirth was a Torque game. Didn't recognize any DBC or DBP games, unless I was mistaken. Cool list though, I'm checking some out now!

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

I have a few of those but number 3: Land of Legends is the one I would put at number 1... It's definitely my favourite Indie game so far...

Also I can't believe they picked to include Darwinia over Uplink... It's also a shame that Alien Shooter didn't make it in...

Actually I prefer Darwinia over all the other Introversion games so far.

Wonderswan, GameCube, Playstation 2, Wii, GP-Series, Playstation 3, Gizmondo, etc..

All use bios-based Linux distros. PS2 and PS3 also have hard-disk releases too (officially, they all run it unofficially).
Using Linux as a development platform isn't novel, just a real case of a Linux platform that is as simple to develop for as Windows is sodding rare as hell.

I've seen people booting up a Linux system on a PS3. If you want to run Linux then a PS3 is a lot of hardware for its price.

Every modern console apart from the xbox and xbox 360 uses linux or a form thereof. Stupid really, although a console using PC architecture would be cool.

Anyway on topic, I couldn't spot Defcon, should be up there really.

I'm really liking the advances in games consoles. Can you actually use a PS3 like a PC? could I install DB and use it on there?

I think it's just because Linux is cheaper for them?

I'm getting transparency bugs in Land of Legends, stuff that shouldn't be transparent are.

Playstation 3 has PC-Architecture, might be running a Custom PowerPC-processor with ridiculous numbers of VMX ("SPE") units; but it's still very much just a bog standard horrible memory management PC that you can't change any hardware on.

That isn't great for gaming, or programming but it does allow it to have some nice multi-tasking features. That said, who the hell needs to have 10 movies playing in preview windows at once?
To me it's a total waste of a powerful system, that limits itself to be a poorly constructed gaming machine.

It's all so retarded, it's like the damn machine doesn't know what the hell it is suppose to be.. then you get charged an arm and a leg just to getting a new technology that quite frankly is only doing well in America. Yeah like that is gonna make a difference.
