You should start working with 2d stuff first before you begin 3d, it will be much easier. TDK has a bunch of tutorials you can start with here:

what luke810 said

and welcome to Dark Basic

(Y=M*X+B)=(X=(Y-B)/M)=(B=Y-M*X)=(M=Y-B/X)
and if you can figure out what it means i will give you a cookie.

Welcome Bloo Bird
Even before doing TDK's tutorials I would suggest doing the in-built tuts, there aren't many and they cover some of the basics.

I didn't understand a thing from the built in tuts besides the print, input, and if commands.

Did someone say 3D scanning on my desk, or was that just an AdBot?

I think you learn more from actually reading about the different commands and trying them out.

I don't think starting out with 2D is any easier than starting out in 3D. You just need to visualise in three dimensions instead of two.

However, always when starting out with a new programming language, follow the golden rule of "Hello world!". xD

A^2+b^2=c^2, but D^2-A^2/g^2*t-r-o-u-b-l-e = w+i+t+h / a*(c*a/p^i+t+o+l)/T+rhyming+with/P+f/o*r^(p-o-o/l)

That equation has a quote from a movie in it. Find it for a cookie

id like to do 3d the most at the moment. my problem is and when ever i say it no1 tells me, ill say it in a way people will notice it.

HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY MAKE THE 3D OBJECTS?

there thats noticable and i didnt mean it by yelling. just to catch attention. what i want to make is an online game that people can get on and play together. in the game their are a few villages of diferent creatures and life style. some people plan to attack other tribes so you can battle each other. ever year or so thier will be like a few days of just all out war where more people can fight at once.

thats just telling you about the game.
i just need to know what most people use to do these things.
the way i want to start is, how do i make a flat ground with a color? and how would i make a 3d character?

if you would like to see the creatures of the tribes i got some drawings. i did them a long time ago tho...

Hmm, hmm, too difficult at your level at the moment, hmm?

Texture a matrix with a single color (TDK must have a tutorial about that somewhere), and to make the character you need to use a 3D modelling program.

you model them in a 3d modeler (ANIM8TOR!!!....), animate them, and save them to a 3ds or x file.

bloo bird- Sketch up is a great program..but you need dbp and a plugin to load in your creations. If you are looking for 3d modelling for characters I can ramble off some right here.

Maya
Milkshape
Wings3d
Blender
Animor8
3dsMax

However..unless you have a natural talent for this stuff, 3d modelling is not exactly a pick up and play thing, you have to work hard to get everything built, texutred, rigged and animated. I can't do it and I am in awe at those who can, but by all means don't let that discourage you..the challenge is fun and you will learn a lot, there is plenty of tuts here and if not here google has enough I'm sure.

Right now though..3d sounds a bit too far for you, this coming from a novice. May I suggest TDK's Tutorials? They are wonderful and informative..make the jump to 3d when you have conqured those tuts..you'll be better off than trying right now, getting aggravated and pulling away from game dev. I wish you the best of luck and we'll always be here if you need help.
