Well, it's an educational game about wolves. And as far as educational games go, this looks pretty advanced.

Someone was making a game like that in DBC years ago, even that looked pretty cool, in fact all you need is a good wolf model and any screenshot will look great.

From what the video shows... it looks like it could be done with DBP. Scent trails are simple enough. There's no major graphic landmarks, its just a dynamic terrain system. The "this is our turf, back off, etc" commands seem like gimmicks that wont have any real effect on the game... no trouble there, the AI looked really basic as well... probably the hardest part would be getting the "MMO" in there, and even that would be simple seeing as the world is huge and there's only ever a few wolves per area.

God I hate those cheesy 80s style adverts..
The concept is nice, but the game itself; gotta say hardly inspiring atleast from the vid.

Hate it when developers don't bother getting themselves an actual designer in to push for some polish in things. I mean there's no reason it can't be simple to pick-up'n'play while providing enough depth to give the gamer something to really sink their teeth into even if it is just an edu-game.

Hell, kids learn more from most retail titles than they do from schools. Ever played Civilization? I certainly got far more interesting information in those series of games in a way that made it easier to understand than a simple textbook stating the facts. Although still mostly reading, you can still see what your actions, governing styles, etc. effect more than something static.
There's certainly nowt to say a game can't be education and not be fun or cutting edge apart from the fact that most who work on them to be specifically education generally have no real understand of FUN.

I mean seriously, what would you find more fun.
A game about social interaction where you're trying to make friends through simple challenges and fairly blah graphics... or a detective scenario using the Mass Effect engine for interaction?

I certainly love how most RPGs generally subvertly teach social interaction with some fable style 'we should all get along' crap.
Hell, Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 were a pretty damn good for teaching so many social aspects as well as that peoples actions have consequences; and it didn't bloody preach it in a totally boring and funless way.

I'd quite like to see a Tomb Raider some day having better puzzle interaction (Anniversay was a step in the right direction) where you have to find clues, and it teaches people stuff like history, physics, etc. in a way that they need to apply the knowledge to complete a puzzle.

Sure there's always gonna be the mindless stuff like GTA, Killzone and Halo; but there's also some damn good games that while they're not sold as education games, really do lend themselves to something that you would want kids to play in order to not only have fun but learn stuff.

In all honesty, I just read up on wolves (for ideas) and a project like this would be quite fun to make, but I'm not all that into wolves.

If I were to design this game, I would make it a simulation, rather than a training device. Making a sim would be far more educational than a 5 paragraph intro to wolves before you start playing.

You could do missions such as travel from x to y for reason a, b, and c, sort of like missions in a traditional mmo. Hunt in packs as shown in the video, but in a way that's far more graphically appealing (ragdolls!), ie, make it for gamers.

Add in the odd mini game of bash the gopher and you got gold, baby.

Wolves are my favourite animals. Not only are they beautiful but their pack behaviour is very fachinating. Same pack theories is also useful when you have a dog because they similar instincts. To bad I'm allergic to dogs.

hahaha looks great. I think it was a mock up though. Was there supposed to be 3 kids playing each wolf online? If so, take notice of the three wolves moving at the same time in the same direction. Smells of mock up to me.

To me it seemed really cheesy. Looks very unfinished and a bit empty in content.

Really education. All I see is a kid hitting buttons that is really going to make children learn about wolves. But I got to be honest here the video made me think of south-park. Trey Parker talking in the background and the weird music in the background

Jordan, listen, as I shall say this only once.

It's not indi you have to worry about - it's the mods. You're insulting a (by some (possibly) respected) member of the forums, and thats against the rules = a quick run down memory lane into the dark void of the kick/ban.

Well... that was ridiculous, the kid was funny I was disappointed when he didn't piss his pants
I thought it was funny how they showed a map of the internet/America lmao. It didn't look that great and it blacked out the gory parts (assuming there are gory parts) I would have been really interested to see how they would have done that. And then the deer just collapsed like it was tired out from all the standing??
Not on my wish list

Quote: "Hell, kids learn more from most retail titles than they do from schools."

Very true, it's almost the same as practical learning which has been proven the best form of education (which incidentally has almost vanished from schools), and you can do amazing things in computer games kids learn from anything, they are like sponges

Most of what we learn in school is presented as facts to be "learned". The best way is to present information in ways that make people think and ask questions. Making kids memorize facts doesn't work. Heck, I don't remember half of what I learned last year. Socratic method for the win!

Just wait until the wolves evolve and adapt. Then you can give them weapons and a town.... and there are wolves in space...

.... or is that spore??

Honestly, I could make this game with little to no effort. Then again, they're not making it in DBpro, are they?

@ CGJ

Not that I like your comments or anything, or anything you post in general, but I sort of dislike indi as well. Seriously, when he was mod, he locked like a thousand of my threads. It seemed he was the only mod who cared about what people posted in terms of AUP and stuff. I mean, he started flaming me one thread for asking what everyone else's favorite food was.
