Moved from the Chat forum.

Game characters cannot think for themselves. They have to be told what to do and everything they do, albeit they may have some random decision making processes in built.

In all game engines AI is controlled by scripting or the programminmg so the answer is no.

The standard FPSC AI is very bad. I hope they replace it completely within the next release.

X10 sounds like it has way better AI, especially with improved pathfinding.

Try and spawn enemies only when needed. I noticed its sometimes better to give them 360 vision if you want an action-orientated game. Sometimes you can get away with no shoot ai. Shootclose as the main ai for example does not need a shoot ai. Set the always active parameter to yes but do not forget to only spawn them when the player is near their area using s trigger zone.

If you can, only spawn 1-3 enemy at the same time. I would try and close off their area so you have to shoot them before progressing (and spawning more enemy). I have posted a method of opening a door only when a certain number of enemy are destroyed. This works well in a game I am working on.
