This guy is pretty amazing. I first saw a video of him playing through Psycobily Freakout with a 5 star rank on Expert (I got 3). He also looks away during one of the hardest parts (not hard to remember though, just switching between 2 chords)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yEjyuw42YY

Here he's playing Death! missing 3 notes on Expert. I don't know how hard the song is, it's only on 360.

Or possibly he got a movie about it, burnt it onto a DVD, and then pretended to hit all keys accordingly. Or someone behind him is using a wireless controller...

Yeah I've seen these... I think he is playing... It's quite sad that people will think of numerous ways for it NOT to be him playing, instead of accept the fact that he is. I can't believe some of the comments I've read on youtube aimed at him, they're so full of hate... He's 8... he probably spends all his free time playing the same song over and over and over... He probably can't play ALL the songs on expert that well, just the ones he has practiced over and over and over and over... practice makes perfect.

I hate it when people diss that game because its not like playing real guitar...like a guitar is plastic and has no strings. Get over it, its a video game...

Yeah, it could be fake, there are others making fake movies. He's 8 and he moves his fingers really well so I must say I don't really care if it's fake. I have a friend with a younger brother at 10 who loves Guitar Hero and he playes nothing but Easy so this guy definatly got some skills anyways.

Kids have this ability to play the same game/level etc over and over without getting bored and that's what Guitar Hero is all about, if you play a lot you will get good at it (like most things really). He also have tons of free time compared to older players.

If he's not the one playing then I'm still impressed by who ever does. Psychobilly freakout is at least top 5 hardest songs out on PS2, the only one I can say for sure is harder is Jordan (remains unbeaten here).

Osiris:
Me too It's a rythm game where you get to hold a guitar and play famous rock songs, that's why it's such a huge success. It's a hand/eye coordination skill game, the setting, music and guitar just makes it more fun to play if you ask me. Exelent party game too.

So what? It's very hard to play that good and to be 8 years old makes it all the more better. People get famous for doing things that take far less skill than this; just look at all of these 'celebrity' magazines

Yeah I know over here in england a woman called Jane Goody got famous by showing her boobs on live tv. But it was blurred out.
But this kid he is good I gotta give him that but he shouldn't be a celeb by just a video game! Same as Jane goody
@VanB: It was just idea what people would of called him. And besides it is a videogame.

Jade Goody is still famous though, although now it's for being a stinking ignorant racist bag of puss .

You have to remember that's YouTube, people get popular there for the most stupid reason - being great at a videogame is a better reason than most, go look up Daxflame on YouTube - he's kinda famous for making stupid embarrassing emo videos on purpose, this 8yo deserves more recognition than Dax IMO.

The red one (Gibson SG) is the GH2 controller for PS2, theres also a black SG for GH1 (both work the same). The white one (Gibson Explorer (IIRC)) is the wireless GH2 controller for 360. The 360 version have more songs then the PS2 version and you can buy a few of the GH1 songs. So far GH1 (~45 songs) and the expansion Rocks the 80s (30 songs, the price is a rippoff!) are only available on PS2. GH2 have about 65 songs. There's now a white wireless controller for PS2 as well, it looks kinda like an SG and it's more expensive (of course). GH3 is comming in October for PS2, 360, PS3 and WII, there's a new white wireless controller for all systems as well. In GH3 you can play online with leaderboards on all systems, GH2 on 360 supports leaderboards. GH2/GH3 looks way better on 360 then PS2. Oh, and in GH1 both players must play the same difficulty in multiplayer and there's no cooperative mode (guitar/base and lead/rythm), the others also have a pro face off mode where both players play all notes.

I think that's all the info you need to make a good decission about what to buy depending on what systems you own Remember to buy 2 guitars, cooperative and face off are both a lot of fun!

Oh, and one of the best thing with Guitar Hero is that you can play a few songs (15-30 min) and then get back to coding. I play standing upp so it's a nice break from sitting down.

Hmmmm, I think it'd be a waste to get it for anything but the 360 - wireless, supports my new HD TV, and hopefully GH3 would support the GH2 controller, and my PS2 is packed away somewhere anyway. Thanks for the input, if the guitars are cheap enough I might get 2 because my little brother would love it too, doesn't look like the sort of thing that gets traded in too often unfortunately.

You get 1 guitar with the game if you buy a pack, that shaves off some of the cost.

Oh, and one more good thing about the 360 version: Rock Band that Deathhead mentioned (by the creators of Guitar Hero and MTV) will only be available on 360 and PS3, not PS2 and WII (so far).

I dont think it is him playing, he turns his back to the screen and still presses certain keys, unless he has played it all day, everyday without sleep, no way is he gonna do that.

[edit]

then again, watching it really carefully, he does hit the notes bang on, even when he turns his back, so obviously he plays it all day, everyday, without sleep or breaking for meals etc... lol

typical american kid haha

It's not like those passages he's not watching are hard to remember, it's basically a few simple chords. All it takes is some practice to remeber and you need a sence of rythm. It's not like all the bands out there play by notes on stage

I know, most of the comments on any awesome talent someone has is always filled with conspiracy talk

But then you go look at any UFO video and the comments are dominantly "I dunno if this is real but it sure seems like it!", pff. Newbs.

Bought GH2 on Saturday for the 360, what an awesome game! - very difficult, just completed it on medium last night and managed to get through Free Bird. I'm dreading the hard difficulty.

The song list for GH3 looks great, One by metallica, Even Flow by pearl jam, The Metal by Tenacious D, Paint it Black, Paranoid... hell I like about 90% of them.

Only problem is I promised my son and younger brother I'd get them GH3 for christmas, so I'll have to wait till then to play it even though it's out in October .

GH2 should last you until xmas with hard and expert settings. But maybe you aren't planning to wrap the gift before you have to

BTW, everybody getting GH3 should compete online to see who's the TGC board champion. Did I mentioned I've played GH for over a year

So far I've not played anyone who can beat me on Expert playing anything higher then Medium, not saying there aren't people who aren't better then me but I've yet to play against one who have played even half as much as me. (Not played Jordan against anyone on Medium yet)

You are very welcome to beat me if you can

Hahaha..I had cleared all but two songs on expert for gh2, it was a really addictive game, and a nice alternitave when your arms hurt from real guitar, but man those experts will still grind you. I'm just bad at pulloffs.

I'm kinda bad at hammerons longer then 2 notes, pulloffs are much easier. I just cant seem to get the rythm in with hammerons. I didn't realise you had played that much. Looking forward to play against you then

Only song I've not completed, of all songs on PS2, is Jordan on Expert. I think my record was around 73%. Not only is the game really hard for most part but the big solo is really really long with no star power in sight.

I've not tried to play any song without looking at the notes. Well, a few sections here and there, usually playing the notes too early. As a guy who contantly seek changes I don't really have the patience to play a single song enough to learn it without notes unless I really really want to.

I don't even have the patience to load up the practice mode, takes too long, unless I really want to do 100% on a song and I think I can pull it off. I do have 100% on all medium songs in GH2 and more then half in Rock the 80s. By playing a lot I will improve my skills overall and that is more fun and more usefull then beeing good at only a few songs.

good attitude..I used to log in at least four hours every day before work..it was always fun, first nigt we got it..we beat the game on medium then hard the next day. Expert really did take the longest but only a few of the songs were really hard..which made me sad a bit but man they kicked my bum for a while.

Would love to square off against ya..sounds fun.

Having played a real guitar gives you a good head start. I started with Easy on GH1 but I couldn't play much more then 5 songs at a time back then before my left hand got exhausted. I already knew the logics of playing on strings so understanding how the game worked was for me quite easy compared to those I have thought. Nowadays I can play for hours if I avoid those songs that really drains your hand. I started early with strumming up and down and even earlier to hit frets with my pinky (it's about 95% as good as my other fingers).

BTW, have you seen the anime BECK - Mongolian Chop Squad? It's about a boy who runs into this older guy who is set on creating the best rock band in Japan. The boy starts learning how to play a guitar and the series is about the band's up and downs, basically. There's a lot of good music (most of it in English) in it as well.
