So, for the actors to look like they did in the movie "300" they spent 10-12 hours per day 4-5 days per week for four months.

Here's a 300 workout, because it totals 300 reps.

They say to do this as fast as possible, as its a brutal workout.

Pullups -25 reps
Deadlifts with 135lbs -50 reps
Pushups -50 reps
24inch box jumps -50 reps
Floor wipers with 135lbs -50 reps
Single arm clean and press with 36lbs kettlebell -50 reps
Pullups -25 reps

In that order.

Go to Youtube.com and search 300 workout.

Awesomeness..

are u sure? what they did was a mass over strength workout. They might look buff, but they won't be winning any weight lifting comps anytime soon.

u'd think the army would gear towards strength training over bulking up quickly. well, I would assume at least.

That's what i'd've thought as well, but I think Underside is right. I've been to "boot camp" over here in Australia for the army plenty of times before, the workouts are crazy.

It's good fun though, commando crawling through the mud was awesome, and parachuting was good too.

The faster you do any exercise, the less your confining the actual muscle you want to develop.
Cardio workouts do help to cut and lose weight but you flab out faster if you go that way.
I used to body build a great deal and have only just started again recently.
that routine is hardly the core muscle groups.
Just a lot of upper body shoulders and bicep work. Looks great if you want a great upper body on chook thin legs.

Man, that's nice. Getting paid to work on your body. Sure it probably feels like hell at first but with trainers and others working with you it's quite motivating.

Then after it's all said and done, you get to see yourself up on a 30 foot wide screen looking all freakin' awesome. What a life!

When i was in Infantry training at fort benning thats all they basically do but i became hella strong over the course of 6 months i could lift twice my body weight i was 180lbs. then. Our Physical Training test was all about how many push ups and sit ups you could do in 2 minutes. So a total of 4 minutes was spent seeing if you could do better then your last test. Then you ran for 2 miles. Best time running was 14:52 for a 2 mile run i did 100+ push ups in 2 minutes and 100 sit ups. I wasn't even considered an all star doing that many we had people who could do way more.

But they never made us use weights if we didnt want to use them, i personally just used my body weight and never grabbed a dumb bell or anything like that, we had this one guy that would put an extra 50lbs. in his ruck sack on road marches =\. He was a insane person.

25 pullups is hardly nothing at all. 50 pushup should be doable by any physically fit guy. That's also a really low deadlift weight amount, but the 50 reps does sound tough. I have no idea what floor wipers are. Overall, the whole routine together is quite a workout and would definately build stamina and cut that body's shape, but I don't think it would increase peak strength too much.

Found a video that demonstrates each exercise.

Yea, I don't think I could complete that workout in a day...yet! Ok, I miss my free gym, time to go find a new gym to join. (i get discounts through work to a lot a different clubs now)

I'd love to take the time to do that workout, but I'm too busy sitting on my arse.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I saw a doc on the movie 300. I've seen the guy who plays the King in other movies before; he said he felt like a "Lion" when playing the part. It must have been quite exhilirating during the battle scenes; even though it was all shot in a studio (they said they couldn't find a place that would give the same "feel").

I'm pretty sure my wife got me the movie for my B-Day Next week. Not sure if I want her to watch a few of the "muscle" scenes, as I don't exactly measure up to that.

I was just a lowly mechanic, so we didn't do anywhere near that type of workout (even at Bragg); there were a few guys who did it in their off time (usually Chem or Finance), but us mechanics didn't really know what "off time" was.

They run around half-naked the whole movie, not just a few scenes.

Yeah, but there's a few especially "muscular" scenes.

Haha when i was in infantry training that seemed alot similar to what the OP has said, not exact but it was fast paced and a really good and hard workout the only thing i thought was extremely hard was fireman carrying another soldier during combat medical training =\

Actually, if those pullups were really dead hang with no swinging like in the movie, it would be a very brutal workout.

No, that's exactly what you let her do. She watches the movie with you, gets all turned on and hot, and you being the only guy around at the moment gets the attention by default. It's a win-win situation!

I noticed that too, they used their legs a lot in those pull-ups....cheaters!
