OK, so I´'m planning on buying visual studio this weekend and I wonder wich is the best standard edition or pro for developing games(in c++).
Im not thinking of making games like halo and stuff, Im thinking more like gta 2 with a lighting engine or maybe if I get really really really good a game like quake II.
And i would like to make a game involving muliplayer (Lan/internet)
in a far future (when im done reading all my c++ books).

Standard. The alterations in Pro are very minor, if not completely unused most of the time

Go for standard or express (the free one), would save you a lot of cash

so if i'd like to make a mutiplayer 2d top-down game with a lightning engine will it be cool to go with standard?
p.s I know it's VERY hard to make a game like that but still...

I dont think the IDE makes any difference. The compilers themselfs will be the same.
