There is a "company" working on getting DirectX 10 into XP. They call themselves Falling Leaf Systems. They claim to be porting DX10 to XP, Linux and OS X.

There is currently an Alpha release.

There is also a blog here.

I'm not sure if they will pull through on this, but if they do, I know I'm downloading it.
