EDIT: DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE

anyway, here is the download from filefront, all files are there. i never figured out the firespot thing, but a lot of the time the speed makes it a little unnoticeable (unless you look out for it )

but if i ever do fix it i will upload a newer version.

>>DOWNLOAD LINK<<

for best appearance, TURN ON ANISOTROPIC FILTERING, if you don't know what that is, don't worry about it.

---------EDIT--------------

Link to video of new animation:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=DaZrwU0dh38

FILEFRONT download:

http://files.filefront.com/dualelitewmv/;8400469;;/fileinfo.html

video is just under 7MB, good for a resolution near to 800x600

---------------------------
I was roaming around some old files and remembered that i never actually finished the dual mod for the Beretta i made a long while back.

the animation was half finished, and it seemed like a quick and easy thing i could do to help out in less than a day, so earlier on today i got back onto the animation, to get these puppies working also had a rough play around shifting the darkness of parts of the texture

once Ive finished the animation (only reload left to do, which is looking cool so far) i will put it up for download, as well as the hands in .OBJ and .3ds format (and possibly any other formats upon request, though they might not be able to have the rig i gave them)

anyway, mandatory screenshot, showing the duals (in a boring default idle pose i know, as well as the modified black texture)

edit: shader shot (buggy specular as we all know)

I'm hoping to have the animation finished by tomorrow and the files uploaded around then too.

Looks good, your "most awsome vehicle EVAR" looks good in fpsc too

TATBS 1.8 is now fully functional. Brilodis is having its districts extracted to Battle City. Krina and Karin are twice the size. And you’ll see 5 times as many breeds of monsters... It’s Kalspher V3.

Cool, and I love the Mad Max-like Ford Escort you've got parked there.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

thanks,

one thing i forgot to mention (and partly the whole reason why i wanted to start the thread) is to ask, does anyone know how the firespot system works for duel wield weapons? is the alt named differently or what?

nope, checked that, thats for characters

thanks though

i could use the same concept, placing it in the middle and making the size really huge to make up for texture space loss, but there is a more convenient way which appears to be used in model pack 6 which i would like to find out for future reference

anyway, finished the reload animation, and boy am i impressed with it Ive started adding a 'theory' to my animations which are making them a lot more fluent

here's a video:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DaZrwU0dh38

I'll upload to filefront as well for those who hate youtube (includes me )

unfortunately no sound, haha, which kind of rids some awesomeness but oh well, the download will be ready tomorrow

EDIT:

yeah, inspired by one of the (crappy CT default) pistols in CS:Source, where the push isn't enough and he goes for another try, really gives a more human feel to it we all make mistakes, especially when akimbo

also, when extra X10 stuff is finished I'll have some time to get back to ma' custom Assault rifle which will also be free:

saying that though, anyone who visits errants forums would know thats been 'pending' for ages

will get around to it though.

Hey Jon, awesome job on the elites and all of the great stuff on your site. One question though, what method do you use for modeling weapons? I am just trying to get an overall view of the best approach and was wondering if you could briefly describe your method/workflow for hard surface modeling. And also, with that new weapon on your site, are you modeling the high poly normal map scource in Max, or some other way. Thanks in advance.

@ Havok

thanks,

i use the 'box modeling' technique, just starting off with a box and adding edge loops within the model and extend or contract the shape.

its weird to explain, and ive heard people write "start with a box and add detail" before and i that it doesnt help, so i'll say it involves alot of usage of the 'connect' tool. I will make a video showing the development of a weapon model and the use of this tool very soon.

As for the other weapon, no, there is no high poly, all of the normal map has been made within photoshop, i had the large scale shapes i wanted already.

@ silent thunder

haha, yeah i liked that addition too, makes it look more badass

@ shadow blade

thanks, im uploading shortly, just gotta try and fix something with the shell ejection (i was having the same problem last time, it's quite frustrating, lol)

@ tyrano man

thanks, but unfortunately ive tried that before and it doesnt work, ive tried naming them both the same aswell to try and see if the original detection finds them both, doesnt work

edit:

p.s) could a mod possibly change the title of the thread to included 'free' at the beginning? that way when newcomers search for custom media they will find it much easier

thanks mate, glad you like

Karazhan EU

im a lvl 55 Tauren Warrior named Snuffles

although its a very good game i look forward to quitting, it simply consumes far too much time, the game was specifically designed to make you think "ooh, one more level and i can get that cool gear/weapon/mount/talent/ability"

Wow. Just wow. These are amazing! They handle really well, and feel like the real weapon. (And yes, I have held a Beretta) You have continued to prove you are amazing at modelling.

well technically i haven't modeled anything new, i was just extending off of past work with a new animation

I'll upload the hands and .max file tomorrow.

thanks for the very nice comments people, it was an easy use of 1 days work to make something out of past work and it turned out nice and not too time consuming for myself either.

I don't know why, but the last part really made me laugh.

Saw the YouTube vid and the reload looks sick. Really great job. Did you get the brass bug sorted?

My alt Tauren was named Hasslehoof I was lucky enough to get my main to 60, get my fast mount and quit before the BC out.

yeah, as soon as i heard of yet another expansion i was more annoyed than excited, twenty more levels to top from original, bahh!!

yeah i managed to sort out the brass problem, wasn't too bad. thanks for the comments on the reload

Urgh, cant stand WoW, personally..
Me and Tyrano man both play guild Wars regularly together, and i find that a much better game.

On topic;
Awesome looking animations - Love it how he nearly drop the clip.. Reminds me very much of BF2's qwerky animations.
On one of them, on the Barrett M95 sniper, there is a ring on the side (Which is accurate to its real state), and the bloke gets bored on the idle animation, and gets his finger stuck in it, and has to force it out

Anyway, sorry, i rambled..

For those who do not know how to turn on Anisotropic filtering, navigate to your Graphics card control panel (I've had both ATI's and nVidias, and both are located by your clock on the toolbar).
Depending on which version software it is, either right click the icon, and if on an nVidia card go to Performance and quality. Mine is on 16x, but you can use what you want depending on the quality of your rig.
for an ATI, if its the same for all cards, and not jsut 850XT (Do not buy one) double click, be patient and navigate through the options.

The only thing I didn't like on the old beretta (single gun) is that I thought the thumb moved kinda like a snake. The animations on this one are much better.

i probably would to if i had found it first, im usually more into games that push the graphics card and have a lot of shine and shadows, and guild wars looks to be more my piece of cake, but there is a level of awesomeness in the style of WoW art, and how low-poly everything is.

i would try guild wars (i actually have it, because a friend got bored of it and just gave me the account, haha) but i don't want to take the risk of getting into another MMORPG

Quote: " the thumb moved kinda like a snake"

lol yeah after a while i noticed that too, which is why im not using those hands anymore, i kind of botched the anatomy of the thumb and it just looks like an odd sausage sometimes

yeah i remember that animation, pretty cool i might start playing BF2 again, i had SO much fun with the sniper in karkan (is it?) and gulf of omen (is it?) in the helicopters and suicide bombing the raptors because i suck at flying them and the fact that as soon as your in the air you get 'missile locked on'

in fact just remembering the game makes me really want to go online and play the game some more, thanks

p.s) thanks for writing out how to enable AF, im sure some people will find it helpful

Just have played around with the gun for fun .
And the animation is very realistic , when the ammo of the second weapon slide away( aahh...just love it ).

I was thinking to re-texture the weapon , do you mind to post a UV man of it ? I will appreciate it
